I heard of this through Generations Radio with Kevin Swanson. Audible is a Christmas gift every year, so I'm very happy to use a credit on this book!
Bethany calling God "Daddy" was weird, every time, but in a way it helps me remember that He truly is our heavenly Father, closer than any earthly daddy.
Great story, great young voices.
Excited for part 2!

I have both of these books and they've ruined all other Mandarin learning audiobooks for me.
I've got credits that I have no idea what I'm gonna do with because none of these other Mandarin learning audiobooks come close to how good these are.
Even Pimsleur!
I really couldn't be happier with these books and I can't recommend them highly enough for Mandarin learners!

While I really enjoy Chinese101's podcast and other resources, I thought this felt careless and rushed.
Audio edits were poorly done, cutting off parts of dialogues, not much detail for anything. Much better off listening via the website or app.
Thankful to be able to return this and volume 2, which after this one, I didn't even try out.

Far better than I thought

I've only been learning Mandarin for a month, but this book has been the best thing so far for my spoken vocabulary. I'm a big audiobook guy anyway, obviously - Audible) but this goes beyond active/passive listening to an audiobook; it's interactive!
The way it starts out with 1 word in English, then translates, and you work your way up to a complete sentence, starting over from the first... it's like magical or something! It doesn't shortchange you with the given time to repeat/translate either. I had time to think, try, mess up, and try again. So it doesn't feel rushed, and I like that.
I'll stop now... I'm incredibly happy with this purchase and I highly recommend it to Chinese Learners!
