Historia
Our ability to prevent and reverse these conditions—and feel incredible today—is under our control and simpler than we think. The key is our metabolic function—the most important and least understood factor in our overall health. As Dr. Casey Means explains in this book, nearly every health problem we face can be explained by how well the cells in our body create and use energy. To live free from frustrating symptoms and life-threatening disease, we need our cells to be optimally powered so that they can create “good energy,” the essential fuel that impacts every aspect of our wellbeing.

Good Functional Medicine approach but dangerous to demonize the medical treatment of chronic disease
Revisado: 11-21-24
The author has a great presentation of the benefits of living a good energy lifestyle and how to start taking steps toward implementing the strategies in a way that work for you. I love the presentation of why a good energy lifestyle matters.
I think she’s missing the boat in demonizing and creating mistrust in the medical management of chronic disease. Western medicine and functional medicine can (and should) go hand in hand. Treat your metabolic dysfunction medically to minimize its harm WHILE you work on healing that dysfunction through a good energy lifestyle. People are going to have a myriad of factors that can contribute to the presence of chronic disease despite living a good energy lifestyle.
I’d love to be able to recommend this book to patients and family who are on a journey to health, but probably won’t because it seems to encourage people to turn their backs on Western medicine and abandon chronic disease management. A good doctor will encourage both healthy lifestyle and the management of chronic disease… and they’ll be the ones that cheer the loudest when you have made the lifestyle changes and healed enough to no longer need the pharmacy to treat your metabolic dysfunction.

For everyone and no one
Revisado: 11-18-22
This book describes too many of the potential tough situations of midlife to be able to offer meaningful depth on any of it.
If you’re wanting a book to feel like you aren’t the only one wrestling with many of the midlife challenges, this book will touch on them. If you’re looking for solutions or guidance through those things, this book just covers too many things to offer much depth in any of them.
It was written well, but is a broad overview more than in-depth content.
Narration was clear, easy to understand, and sound quality was good, but was also a bit robotic and dry.
