Historia
If it weren’t for Emma Johnson, Caryn Johnson would have never become Whoopi Goldberg. Emma gave her children the loving care and wisdom they needed to succeed in life, always encouraging them to be true to themselves. When Whoopi lost her mother in 2010—and then her older brother, Clyde, five years later—she felt deeply alone; the only people who truly knew her were gone. Emma raised her children not just to survive, but to thrive. In this intimate and heartfelt memoir, Whoopi shares many of the deeply personal stories of their lives together for the first time.

🤱🏾Everything She Spoke About In Regards To Her Mother Was Awesome 💐
Revisado: 09-20-24
I enjoyed the book, but I feel like Whoopi spoke more about her family then she did herself. Overall, it's a good read. I loved how Whoopi explained that she gave her mother a gift on HER birthday (Whoppi's birthday), which is on 11/13. Whoopi was & still is very grateful for her mother & brother, Clyde Johnson. RIP to her mother and brother. I hope Whoopi has many more funny ye
ars left with us - she has always cracked me up. Thanks for all the laughs and overall entertainment, Whoopi. Sending love from Oregon to wherever you are. 🤟🏾

Historia
His real name was Earl Simmons. As a child, he placed higher on tests than his fellow students and liked to spend mornings with his mother and sisters playing games and making pancakes. But for young Earl - a boy growing up on the streets of Yonkers, New York - that kind of childhood didn’t last long. Beatings, abuse, and neglect very soon had him moving on to other things, like robbing, stealing, drugs, and, eventually, jail. Along the way, however, he found a talent and a passion for rhyme.

Historia
On April 20, 1999, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold walked into Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado. Over the course of minutes, they would kill 12 students and a teacher and wound 24 others before taking their own lives. For the last 16 years, Sue Klebold, Dylan's mother, has lived with the indescribable grief and shame of that day. How could her child, the promising young man she had loved and raised, be responsible for such horror? And how, as his mother, had she not known something was wrong?

An Okay Read 📕
Revisado: 08-02-22
I was so excited to read the book and get Dylan's mother's point of view on things and to get greater detail of Dylan's life as well as Eric's life, if possible from a neighbor's perspective. however I felt that the story was more about healing and things surrounding the tragedy as opposed to really diving into Dylan as a person. I just wanted much more from the book, much more detail, including the healing aspect. However, I was happy to have the opportunity to read at least something about these two boys. I wish the mother and all of the family members peace on earth and better days ahead. I'm so sorry that this happened to you all. I was 17 years old on Hitler's birthday 4/20/1999; turning 18 seven days later; I was all the way in Oregon, but this tragedy still hit close to home for me emotionally. May those beautiful souls RIP. God has the last say - so, I hope there's a possibility of forgiveness for what Eric & Dylan committed. God bless us all 🙏🏽

But I felt like I would have gotten more out of the book if there was a narrator other than Will because it's so hard for me to take him seriously 😒 I'm sorry Will, but I love you: the world loves you! I grew up on you, it's just really hard to hear you explain serious matters.

I wish the book went more into detail about several different times of his life but I felt like it did not. I feel like he would go on and on about topics that were not too significant to the reader, which would be myself in this instance. I am happy that he had this book published and I was able to hear some of his life story.

📙 Awesome Informative Reading 📙
Revisado: 03-12-22
I really liked the narrator's voice 🗣️ she kept me engaged & of course the information in the book kept me wanting more & more; I was anxious to get to following chapters. I am learning so much about Marvin Gaye & his family; he sounded like a man with a sad spirit & parts of him remind me of myself (I'm a woman). I know he's long gone; deceased 4/1/1984 (when I was only 2 years old), but I love his music, his sexiness & his life story is very much so interesting. I have a sense of sadness for him & his family, including his father who murdered him. May they all RIP & I hope that they are all happy in Heaven reunited in 🕊️peace & love 💕 I am now going to complete the 📘 by Zeola, his baby sister. May God bless the Gaye's (originally, "Gay.")

Good story in the beginning, okay in the middle & heart-touching in the end. Keep believing in your strength & keep your faith in God, Lamar. You can beat the drug habits & desires if you put your faith in God & your mind to positive actions. I believe in you & God does too; for He created you. You will get to see Kathy, Joe & Mildred one day in Heaven; may many blessings be upon you. I wish & pray for only good things for you. 🤎

It kept my attention up until the last 45 minutes or so. I assumed Donald Trump to be most of the things that his niece provided to us - selfish, unfair, not so bright & unkind. I learned that he is pretty cheap - that is something I did not know. Good job / good read.

Historia
Racism from the Eyes of a Child is a personal reflection on racism in America through a childhood lived through the country's most separate past. Growing up during the burgeoning civil rights movement, music mogul Mathew Knowles experienced one of many firsts, from integrating all-white schools in the south up through the corporate and later music worlds. Knowles examines the backdrop of discrimination by tracing his family's roots from postslavery up through the civil rights era, on into the present racial climate.
