Historia
Andrew Roberts' Napoleon is the first one-volume biography to take advantage of the recent publication of Napoleon's thirty-three thousand letters, which radically transform our understanding of his character and motivation. At last we see him as he was: protean multitasker, decisive, surprisingly willing to forgive his enemies and his errant wife Josephine.

Clear, factual, myth-busting and well narrated
Revisado: 04-06-24
Finally, a piece that can be called the definitive biography of a person who shaped the world in so many ways that none of us can begin to fathom.
Well written and narrated. Period.
I'd have preferred more translations of French phrases and words. I'd have also preferred reminders of each of the main characters' roles in Napoleon's life when we're being told about how they each lived after Napoleon's death. Too many French names of which to keep track without reminders.
All in all, a must read/listen for any student of history, fan of the 'ancients' or the 'stoics', or someone curious about why many things are the way they are in the world.

Historia
A major new biography of the Civil War general and American president, by the author of the New York Times bestseller A. Lincoln. The dramatic story of one of America's greatest and most misunderstood military leaders and presidents, this is a major new interpretation of Ulysses S. Grant. Based on seven years of research with primary documents, some of them never tapped before, this is destined to become the Grant biography of our times.

Comprehensive outlook with engaging flow
Revisado: 09-05-23
Like Lincoln's, to whom Grant will always be joined at the hip, the story of Grant as a man, a citizen and as a leader, is complicated. This book does a good job introducing the listener to multiples angles. I was left feeling like I understood and learned about the man what drove him. Thank you.

Historia
A thrilling and revelatory narrative of one of the most epic and consequential periods in 20th century history - the Arab Revolt and the secret “great game” to control the Middle East. Lawrence in Arabia definitively overturns received wisdom on how the modern Middle East was formed. Sweeping in its action, keen in its portraiture, acid in its condemnation of the destruction wrought by European colonial plots, this is a book that brilliantly captures the way in which the folly of the past creates the anguish of the present.

The perfect 'book'

I grew up admiring Ike. This book and the narration filled the entire hole of me knowledge on the great man in all his humility, fallibility and special touch of leadership. A must listen. For all.

Listen to this book now - learn from the best
Revisado: 01-28-23
This should be an instant & permanent addition to the bookshelf of anyone interested in learning invaluable life lessons from the textured & supremely accomplished tapestry that is the life of the longest serving US naval officer in history. Admiral Rickover's influence on our lives is incalculable - from nuclear power to the strength and projection of the US Navy, to shaping generations of leaders and US Presidents.
Admiral Rickover's story forced me to introspect on who I am as a person, how strongly I want to stand for what I believe, using hard skills & soft power wielded strongly, and the value of courage in my personal and professional life. As I navigate this challenging phase in life, pondering on the Admiral's moral fortitude, tenacious impatience, courage and indefatigability helps me dig deeper to find it in myself to be the best I want to be for myself and so I can leave a long-term positive impact for my sons & in my community.
