Herbert Hoover: A Love Letter
Revisado: 08-25-21
"A Love Letter" is the appropriate subtitle for this book. It is clear that the author's intention was to define Hoover as one of the greatest humans to ever grace the planet. Apparently the author thought he never made a mistake and was correct in all of his beliefs. And of course, FDR was wrong in everything he did. That being said, Hoover had a remarkable life and deserves a thorough biography, but maybe not one as slanted as this.

Historia
That Thin, Wild Mercury Sound is the definitive treatment of Bob Dylan's magnum opus, Blonde on Blonde, not only providing the most extensive account of the sessions that produced the trailblazing album but also setting the record straight on much of the misinformation that has surrounded the story of how the masterpiece came to be made. Including many new details and eyewitness accounts, as well as keen insight into the Nashville cats who helped Dylan reach rare artistic heights, it explores the lasting impact of rock's first double album.

Bad pronunciation a distraction
Revisado: 05-13-21
The book was very enjoyable and insightful, but I had a hard time ignoring the reader's bad pronunciation. It is Roy HALL-ee, not Roy Hay-lee, Richard Man-you-ell, not Richard Man-well, Visions of Johanna, not Joanna, and I believe Ouija board is pronounced wee-jee, not wee-gee (with a hard G). Also, the overall feel of the read was smooth and comfortable, the exact opposite of the feel of the album.

Historia
The definitive history of Austria’s multinational army and its immense role during three centuries of European military history. Among the finest examples of deeply researched military history, For God and Kaiser is a major account of the Habsburg army. It shows how the Imperial Austrian Army, time and again, was a decisive factor in the story of Europe, the balance of international power, and the defense of Christendom...it was the first pan-European army made up of different nationalities and faiths, counting among its soldiers not only Christians but also Muslims, and Jews.

Learn to pronounce
Revisado: 07-18-19
The narrator should learn that the word "mischievous" is MISS-che-vuss, NOT miss-CHEE-VEE-uss. His mispronounced it three times so far (halfway through).

Worst reader ever.
Revisado: 07-06-16
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The computer-generated voice on my e-reader gives a smoother presentation and adds more inflection than this reader. He does not appear to understand the concept of phrasing, because it sounds like he takes a breath in between each word. It was so bad I could not finish what might have been an interesting book.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The book has a lot of interesting information, but buy the book, do not buy the audiobook.
