I hate to have the story end

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-17-09

In contrast to my intolerance of Patricia Cornwell's psycho-babble that has replaced the intrigue of her classics, Vince Flynn has me looking forward to every opportunity to hear more. The theme incites emotion to the point of wanting to write my senators to make sure they are not thwarting the actions of a real life Mitch Rapp. To think our government wants to hold our soldiers ciivilly responsible for doing things that are captured in Flynn's "fiction" to keep us free and safe makes me think of them as the traitors putting principle in front of life and death practicality. Hopefully his books will inspire some of our youth to emulate Rapp in coming to the service of our country. His tragedies make me somber and his victories make me cheer. The great authors evoke emotion those lesser talented make you reach for the fast forward control. Keep them coming Mr. Flynn.

The Scarpetta Factor Audiolibro Por Patricia Cornwell arte de portada

couldn't wait to finish

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-17-09

I used to look forward to every Cornwell release, but not anymore. The "psycho-babble" she insists on inserting in place of the intrigue of her classics gets old really fast. There isn't an untarnished personality among the regulars and new characters are used to fuel the torment in the minds of the regulars. People in real life overcome their demons if they are as brilliant as Cornwells characters are portrayed to be. I won't be rushing to her next release.

Not an Alex Cross book

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 09-04-09

If your looking for the next suspense thrilled chapter in Alex Cross's life, keep waiting. This is racial historical folklore disguised as a bedtime story told by Cross about generations past. Nana Momma isn't even a factor. Even family guy retrospects include a tie to current situations as stupid as they are.
This is another "co-author" James Patterson example of putting his name on someone else's work, possibly for the money or to rack up his total publication numbers. If he's giving NEW TALENT a break, he should be much more selective! It would be like Patricia Cornwell narrating a story of Scarpetta's niece Lucy's grandparents courtship with zero connection to current story lines.
How will we know when the next Patterson novel is really he former " Beach House" or "Roses are Red" quality. I'm not buying anymore DUAL Author let downs.

Cliff notes for the Old Testament

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 05-12-09

I appreciated books like this for summarizing long stories and presenting the key points because i'm a lazy reader. Hearing these summaries with some wit and personal insight is really entertaining. The authoris convinced the stories cannot be a literal log of early life with God actively at the helm but in the end accepts his Rabbi's explanation of the inclusion of absurd doctrine such as stoning our disobedient children to death, as included for the sake of discussion or debate. If that were so, which fundamental points were real and which were just to make you think, God or the translators left out the italics.
My suggestion to anyone listening to this book for a quick and clear synopsis of the old testament-enjoy this one, then read Conversations With God Book 1 and see what resonates in your heart as true. Be sure to listen to the very end so as not to miss the "greatest lists of the Bible' which are even more absurd and unbelievable when reviewed in sequence. What I see in the history presented in biblical verse is the same practice of doing and explaining away atrocious personal human behavior by claiming it was Gods will or for the honor of God. These are fables written in retrospect years after they occurred preserved and presented to shape future behavior based in fear, not love. Until someone of high moral authority makes it clear that this is self deception and wrong, man will continue to do despicable things to others in their Gods name and look back at it as if it were God's hands themselves at work. So, the only place I disagree with the author is in the explanation of why certain content is included in the bible and the basic nature of God if you don't believe these stories-The question isn't WHY was the God of the old testament so vengeful and violent, is is WAS the God of the old testament vengeful and evil-or were vengeful evil people attributing their unacceptable acts to their God? Again, continue your search for truth in the CWG series.

Great new author

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 03-10-09

I listen to every Patterson, Cornwell, and Sanford book released and this storyline ranks right up there with the best, even better than some "James Patterson" collaborations. I found myself hesitating to go in to work to finish another chapter or two. I don't understand the criticism of the reader, it flowed well and Never bogged down. I now have another author to be on the lookout for her next release.

best suspense written

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 11-24-07

As an avid audiobook listeners of the top authors, Patterson, Sanford, Cornwell, I've had plenty of reasons to sit in the driveway to listen when I should be moving on. Until Protect and Defend, I never avoided listening dreading what might come next. The emotional attachment to the characters developed over previous books and the lack of predictability makes Flynn the best of his genre. As a physician I appreciate the detail and insight his "fiction" represents. I pray we are as knowledgeable and successful as his characters.

Not the James Patterson I know

Total
1 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 09-21-07

I believe I have listened to every J.P. book written and this is either NOT James Patterson or he has stroked and regressed to Mary Higgins Clark in high school. No suspense, no worthwhile plot, no reason to buy it.

more great suspense

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 02-12-07

I never know if these co-authored Patterson books are really him but the quality is as superb as any prior Patterson novel. This one moves quickly and offers suspense while including a heartfelt family angle as well. I didn't take my Ipod off from start to finish and I'm looking forward to Patterson's next two releases coming soon.
