I throughly enjoyed this book. I found it insightful and engaging. I think that it was made even better by the narration. Best book that I have read in a long time.

Historia
Often compared to both Ruth Rendell and P.D. James, Deborah Crombie is internationally acclaimed for her deftly written mysteries that combine suspense, with lyrical prose. Sharply etched characters further enrich this story of tangled relationships and dark secrets. Twelve years after their divorce, Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid receives a phone call from his ex-wife Victoria asking for his help.

Took a while to get into the story

This was not my favourite Deborah Crombie story. I found it a little slow at the start and I didn’t connect with the narrator.

Beware! - abridged version. Very disappointing
Revisado: 09-05-21
I absolutely loved Trinity, so was so excited to see Redemption. There was no obvious indication that is was an abridged version. I thought that perhaps it was a shorter book. The first part of the book was a recap of Trinity, so I thought that was okay. After all, Trinity was a very long and significant book. However, once the new story commenced, it lacked all of the qualities that I loved in Trinity. I checked the reviews on Audible, only to discover that the audiobook was abridged. I returned the audiobook. I'll wait for the unabridged audiobook or read the book. Don't waste your time on this one.

Historia
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

Disappointing
Revisado: 05-19-21
I was hoping for more from this book even though I was unfamiliar with the author. It started out quite interesting, but after a couple of hours it felt like I was hearing the same thing over and over and over. I understand and appreciate her point of view, however, this was too much for me. I ended up returning the book.

Naive character, obvious plot, and very silly.
Revisado: 05-16-20
The plot was obvious from the start, the writing was poor and the character was so naive and annoying. It reminded me of a teen suspense novel. I couldn't wait to finish it. I would have returned it had it been purchased.

This book was beautifully written and I enjoyed the development of the characters. In addition, Nicholas Guy Smith did a wonderful job with the narration. However, this book plodded along at times and I wondered where it was going.

Wow...whaf a story! I now have a better understanding of what it was like to live in northern Italy during the final years of WW2. Excellent writing and narration. There were some tough parts to hear, but I think that we need to read these types of books. We need to ensure that this doesn’t happen again.

Predictable and disappointing
Revisado: 01-23-19
While it was interesting to find out what happened to Ellie, I found the story line quite predictable. There were few surprises. For this reason, I found the book a little boring. It isn’t a thriller and it really isn’t a mystery.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

The story concept was fun, but I didn't find it particularly engaging. It became more interesting at the end. I was expecting something different, so was a bit disappointed.
