Great spice. MMC is so in from day 1 and you love him. The plot is a bit meandering but their connection is strong. It’s an odd dark setup so check content warnings, but no explicit descriptions of murder or kidnapping. This hockey-light, so if you like the professional athlete lifestyle insider look- this is not that. But they are a sweet couple you are rooting for from the jump.

A good bit of history

This one feels a little too long at times. I didn’t fact check the history but it gets pretty into the weeds for a romance. Some people might love that. As always the characters are very likable. This one feels like it fills out all the stories whereas the others were much more focus on the FMC. Good payoff for a slow burn.

Confused and sorta mean

I guess sexual harassment is ok if you’re good looking?? There is basically no build of any type of relationship between the leads. Im not trying to link shame, the sexy boss concept is usually great, but the sexy stuff is so generic it lacks any redeeming qualities. There is also a weird through line of a mean fat phobia that’s completely unnecessary. The author talks about people the lead isn’t attracted to in a weirdly cruel way. Couldn’t finish.

Same old, but entertaining

The sex scenes are good, but slightly odd in that they seem to always be semi hate-banging with and extremely tenuous hold on birth control. The world is off but in an interesting way re: modern debutants. Nothing here is new, but entertaining nonetheless

I found this book less predictable than others in the genre. I liked the build between the main characters and I’m excited to see where this story goes!

Thin on romance

The female self discovery is appreciated, but if you’re looking for a forget what’s going on around you, loose yourself in a romance kind of book...this misses the mark. The characters are very likable and you def root for them, but the slow burn to actually kissing is far too slow in my opinion. When you do get there, it wasn’t worth the wait. I like the nuance in the character development for sure, but I certainly wasn’t swept away by this one.
