Historia
Everything he learned to protect the president, he must use to take out theirs. With an American president distracted by growing tensions in North Korea and Iran, an ominous new threat is emerging in Moscow. A czar is rising in the Kremlin, a Russian president feverishly consolidating power, silencing his opposition, and plotting a brazen and lightning-fast military strike that could rupture the NATO alliance and bring Washington and Moscow to the brink of nuclear war. But in his blind spot is the former U.S. Secret Service agent, Marcus Ryker.

Good but. . .
Revisado: 04-15-20
I enjoyed the story and while it did not have a lot of “twists and turns” it kept my attention. The reason I gave it four stars instead of five was the unrelated evangelical passages. It felt like the author really wanted us to know his religious views even though it had no clear relation to the story line.

This is a book about men. Not all men, just emotionally unhealthy men. The ones who make you question, "Is it him or is it me? Am I making too big a deal out of this? I try to tell him how I feel, but he says I'm overreacting or needy or it's all my fault". Relationships are hard work, but how hard should they be? When do you know you are struggling too hard to make a relationship succeed?

Historia
Steve Harvey can't count the number of impressive women he's met over the years - the many incredible women who can run a business, have three kids, maintain a household in tiptop shape, and chair a church group all at the same time. So when it comes to relationships, why can't these same women figure out what makes men commit? According to Steve, it's because they're asking other women for advice when they should be going directly to the source.

Revisado: 07-24-16
I had mixed feelings about getting this book from some of the negative reviews. One of my friends recommended it to me so, with the audible return policy in mind, I purchased it.
I am an educated professional woman and did NOT find this to be "too 1950s". I feel that I gained some understanding into the way many males approach dating. I will listen to it again

Excruciating
Revisado: 03-18-16
Would you try another book from Larry Correia and/or Oliver Wyman?
This book is SO repetitive I just cannot finish it. I listen to something else for a while and try to come back to it, but really it is just the SAME thing over and over again. I want my 16 hours back!
Has Monster Hunter International turned you off from other books in this genre?
no, but I will be cautious of books that run for nearly 24 hours
What aspect of Oliver Wyman’s performance would you have changed?
performeance was fine, just too much of the same thing over and over again
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The first couple of hours were fun in a "zombie apocalypse" kind of fantasy way
Any additional comments?

Any additional comments?
Despite some negative reviews, I decided to give this book a shot. It was just as enjoyable as the others. We got a little more knowledge of Jane as a person, not just her role as guide. I am looking forward to the next in the series.

Disappointed
Revisado: 03-19-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
A real plot and a better narrator. This sounded like a fun light series and I am always looking for something I can dive into as I spend a lot of time listening to books.
What could Victoria Laurie have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
I was so bored the first 4 chapters I would have given up on the entire book, but I was on a long flight and had no other reading material, so I kept listening. I kept hoping it would get better. Sadly, it did not. Perhaps I was so distracted by the AWFUL narration that I couldn't really give this book a fair shot.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Elizabeth Michaels?
Amanda Ronconi could probably have saved this book. Elizabeth Michaels does not have an unpleasant voice, but she need lessons on pronouncing words and using different voices. Everyone sounded the same except when there was an inadvertant south Jersey (or south Philly?) accent.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Abby Cooper, Psychic Eye?
There should have been more consistency/fact checking.
Any additional comments?
This felt like a high school English assignment which was "padded" into the first of a series. Other reviewers have indicated that the series gets better in the later books but I just can't force myself to listen.

Mostly swear words
Revisado: 02-08-15
What did you like best about Shame on You? What did you like least?
So far it is a pretty funny book. (I am only half way through and am undecided about finishing it)
I don't mind swearing in books and am not easily offended. With that being said, there is a LOT of "cussing" in this short story. Some of it fits the characters, but some of it seems gratuitous. Maybe I am just too old for this kind of book.

Historia
From Charlaine Harris, the best-selling author who created Sookie Stackhouse and her world of Bon Temps, Louisiana, comes a darker locale - populated by more strangers than friends. But then, that's how the locals prefer it. Welcome to Midnight, Texas, a town with many boarded-up windows and few full-time inhabitants, located at the crossing of Witch Light Road and Davy Road. It' s a pretty standard dried-up western town.

Charlaine Harris does it again
Revisado: 02-08-15
What did you love best about Midnight Crossroad?
I cared about the characters. I would like to move to midnight crossroad if I could and I hope there are more books in this series so I can continue my journey with these quirky characters. Is this "great literature?" No. Is this a fun light read to pass a long flight or boring drive? YES.
This is definitely adult, not young adult reading. There are some mature themes that are not appropriate for young adults.

Unlikable "hero"
Revisado: 10-01-14
Would you try another book from Harlan Coben and/or Scott Brick?
I have read other Harlan Coben books (years ago) and thought they were ok. Not "amazing" not "terrible." I wanted to like this book, but the only thing I found it had going for it was Scott Brick doing the narration.
What was most disappointing about Harlan Coben’s story?
Spoiler alert -
Here is my summary of the entire story. Protagonist decides to look for his long lost "true love" despite his promise to her that he would never look for her. He is warned REPEATEDLY that doing so will cause many others to come to harm. He does so anyway. Many others come to great bodily harm. Selfishly, he continues on his quest. More people come to harm.
I listened to the entire story because I was driving and it helps me tolerate my LONG drives. I kept hoping for a neat turn in the story - Nope! just a selfish jerk pursuing a woman who told him to leave her alone.
Have you listened to any of Scott Brick’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Have enjoyed all my Scott Brick listens!
Did Six Years inspire you to do anything?
