I am listening to all the recordings and enjoying the narrator. May end up reading the early ones that dont seem to be recorded. The characters are enjoyable as are the family interactions.

Brilliant and a must read

I waited to start to read this book when I had time to savor it. I think it is one of the most brilliant books of the last 50 or more years. The characters become our family, and their joys and sorrows become our own.as a fair housing/fair lending lawyer I read and write reports on racial justice. As a south Asian immigrant it has given me an understanding of racism at a visceral level that even long friendships with Black friends have not . I am asking friends to read it and hoping that the sadness arising from the times of slavery,jim crow and the long history of violence against African Americans will be trumped by the sheer brilliance of ms. Jeffers.
Hopefully mcArthur will give her the genius award.
