Five star, except…
Revisado: 04-30-23
This was a good book. I’m used to saying GREAT BOOK about CJ Box’s work. The performance was, typically, great from Mr Chandler. The story, as a sequel to the Joe Picket #21 Dark Sky, was positioned to be great. 80% met my high expectations. The continuation of the Nate Romanowski part of the story, fell short IMHO. The Meredith Pickett component was great until the library scene when the zero brain bad guys easily made it through local police who were EXPECTING the armed & dangerous killers, because they had set the trap; with the library bookcases dominoing into Joe…well, you get the picture.

Excellent story(s)
Revisado: 04-18-23
Mr Box has successfully interjected the good and bad of social media (and the inconsiderate narcissists who run the different flavors), into the time-was world of Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett. Who woulda-thunk?! Excellent writing, weaving the stories and characters together while keeping the signature base of beautiful backwoods mountains of Wyoming and the good, honest, hard working people in Joe’s world. Five stars across the board.

Historia
So begins a press release from a mysterious group known only as “The Five,” shortly after a vicious predator is murdered in San Francisco. The Five is made up of vigilante killers who are very bored…and very rich. They target the worst of society—rapists, murderers, and thieves—and then use their unlimited resources to offset the damage done by those who they’ve killed, donating untraceable Bitcoin to charities and victims via the dark net. The Five soon become popular figures in the media …though their motives may not be entirely pure.

A superb story involving both Lucas and Virgil. Good bad guys, interstate chases, Lucas and Virgil’s dialog, AND a good ending that leaves us wondering about the next installment. 😊

IMHO this is the best Longmire story yet, if you appreciate North American Indian spirituality. Mr Guidall was, of course, outstanding.

Historia
The first storm comes from, of all places, the Minnesota zoo. Two large and very rare Amur tigers have vanished from their cage, and authorities are worried sick that they've been stolen for their body parts. Traditional Chinese medicine prizes those parts for home remedies, and people will do extreme things to get what they need. Some of them are a great deal more extreme than others - as Virgil is about to find out.

At first the crimes seem unconnected. But these four deaths are about to trigger a massive convergence of corruption, cops, and the mob that could tear the Philadelphia Police Department apart from the inside out. All the way to the top...

Historia
The year is 1943, and Argentina is officially neutral, but crawling with every kind of spy, sympathizer, and military official imaginable. The hero is Cletus Frade, a Marine pilot recruited by the OSS, with strong family ties to Argentina. And in Death and Honor - Griffin's fourth book in the Honor Bound series and the first since 1999 - he's got a lot on his hands.

Outstanding historical novel by W.E.B. Griffin
Revisado: 12-17-09
Death and Honor was yet another excellent novel by Mr. Griffin. Superb character development and a fascinating story interleaved in historically accurate events and times. This book gives a fascinating glimpse into an aspect of WWII history that has been as much underappreciated as it was important and complex.
