Historia
Sparrow “Ro” Meadowcroft is about to get the promotion she’s always dreamed of–curator of the museum where she works. She loves old things and the history that surrounds them, so when a patron leaves some items to the museum, Ro is eager to dig in. The sword in the stone that comes with those items is clearly a joke. A well-made but obvious replica meant to be a conversation starter. Why anyone would think that belonged in the museum is beyond her, but she can’t resist taking a crack at it and finding out if she’s the chosen one. And as it turns out...she is.

Interesting

An easy listen when trying to “decompress” after a stressful week. Plot is interesting and imaginative.
Looking forward to the second book.

Silly premise, contradicted by scriptural account.
Revisado: 10-24-21
I love an interesting story that presents ideas that I’ve never considered. So, in that regard, this book should have been interesting. I won’t blab the ultimate premise here, but when I heard it, I was very disappointed. Even a rudimentary understanding of both biblical & extra biblical accounts negates the proposed premise of this book.
If you’re willing to suspend critical thinking this book may entertain you. For me it was a disappointing fail.

Historia
Nicole Berman is determined to find there the first concrete evidence of the biblical patriarch Abraham while leading her first archeological dig in Jordan. During the excavation, Berman discovers a 4,000-year-old complex that includes evidence she believes proves her theory. But a devastating cave-in nearly kills her and she awakens in a Saudi clinic, haunted by visions of what she may have seen - evidence of Abraham and his two sons, the half-brothers Isaac and Ishmael. One discovery leads to another, and Nicole sets off across the region to connect pieces of an ancient puzzle.

Wait for part 2 before buying
Revisado: 01-21-21
Sadly, I should have followed the advice of others & waited until the whole story had been written. This one stops short, literally mid sentence with zero ends tied up and no idea that here will BE another book. Totally unsatisfactory. I’d think twice about buying another book by this author. The title should have said: Book one

Very enjoyable
Revisado: 01-26-18
Granted - this series is
“another time travel romance “ and has all the usual twists & turns. It has, however a delicious taste of historical flavor - from both England & France.
I totally enjoyed the escape from our now turbulent political times!

Fascinating!
Revisado: 07-27-17
It's easy to go on a treasure hunt if you're certain of the outcome. This journey, however, is the exact opposite. The twists & turns, blind alleys, disappointments and surprises make this a true adventure. I won't spoil the ending but I guarantee that it won't be what you are expecting.
If you have any interest at all in ancient manuscripts, you will love this book.

Sing-song narration is grating on the nerves
Revisado: 02-24-17
What would have made True to the Highlander better?
Had the narrator not done a sing-song narration, her performance would have been fine. The cadence was very VERY irritating.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The character voices were fine but when ever the narrator was speaking the cadence became a very irritating singsong that nearly ruins the book. I've been an Audible member for years and this is the first book where I loved the story but couldn't finish it due to the weird narration. Distracting most of the time and completely "fingernails scratching a blackboard " at others - I finally gave up.

Evokes the true feeling of the time

I heard stories like those told in this book throughout my childhood. History books tell us "what " happened, but this wonderful series tells us how it "felt" . Priceless!

Historia
It's just a small story really, about, among other things, a girl, some words, an accordionist, some fanatical Germans, a Jewish fist-fighter, and quite a lot of thievery. Set during World War II in Germany, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a foster girl living outside of Munich. Liesel scratches out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she encounters something she can't resist: books.

One of the BEST
Revisado: 06-16-08
I listened to this book well over a year ago, and in going through my library, noticed that I hadn't written a review. Not that I write one for every book....BUT even with a year having past - the whole story jumped right into my head. No need to think about the plot. This book leaves an impression that lasts! It is really one of the best!
