I LOVE the Barefoot Contessa. Ina's cooking show has been on Food Network for 20-something years. She educates, entertains, and shows you how to have fun at your own party.

I was counting the days until her memoir was released because she is so interesting. In the book, she reveals a lot about her childhood, her life with Jeffrey (they weren't ALWAYS living in the Hamptons), and how she arrived at where she is in life.

Luck IS involved - but the behind the scenes work is what prepares you for it. Suppose Food Network had not called? That was luck.

Ina's voice is very soothing and makes you feel as if you are one of her dearest friends. I really enjoyed this book.

OMG. I usually have trouble falling asleep, but Erik Braa's voice is like caramel being poured over ice cream. So smooth. I am usually asleep before the end of Chapter 2.

I wish there was a recording of Mr. Braa reading the whole story.

Wow. I started listening to "Red Notice" because it showed up as a recommendation based on other books I read. As I listened to it, I was sucked into the story and immediately Googled Bill Browder. What a writer.

I found this book and realized it was the sequel I had been searching for. It is just as riveting as "Red Notice", and reads like an Ian Fleming or Robert Ludlum novel. What makes is frightening is that it's true.

The narrator is excellent; I don't speak Russian, yet he pronounces the names and places mentioned with no American accent. Same with his British and Swiss accents.

If you haven't had a chance to read or listen to either "Red Notice" or "Freezing Order", make sure you do. Mr. Browder peels yet another layer from the United States-Russia relationship, and exposes some ugly corruption in international business and politics.

I love stories about World War II. Espionage, intrigue, foreign locales... all of that is right up my alley.

I had never heard of The Alice Network, but I thought it would be a good listen.

I spent much of the book trying to figure out where Charlie (Charlotte) and Eve and Lili fit in. Even though the chapters were titled depending on whose piece of the story was being told, I had a difficult time following along. 1915 to me, is not World War II; rather it's the First World War, so that didn't help me with the setting.

The narrator did a really good job with the different accents, but it didn't help me. I was just glad when I finished it. Maybe I will give it another try at a later date.

I bought this audiobook because I wanted something interesting for my commute. I got it in this bio. It's very very detailed (who knew that Amelia went to school in Philly?! I didn't!) and recounts her entire family - sisters, cousins, parents and all the issues that come with them. My first thought was, "Why are you telling me about these people? Why should I care?"

The reason is this: by learning about Amelia's origins and formative years, you learn why she became the woman she was.

We all know the end - her plane was lost near Howland Island in the Pacific Ocean. But the author very nicely fills in the blanks.

Finding out 'the rest' just makes her disappearance all the more heartbreaking.

A must-read for anyone interested in stories of influential women, history or aviation.
