Fun read; fabulous performance!
Revisado: 11-12-21
I listened to this book over a two-day period while I had Covid. For those hours I forgot about my dreadful cough and aching head, ignored my difficulty breathing and the fact that I was in quarantine while I should have been preparing to host a dozen people for Thanksgiving.
All I cared about was Angel and whether she had enough brains to eat. Give yourself something to be grateful for: read this book!

Looking forward to the next one. Wonderful escapism literature with a sardonic edge. Entertaining performance.

Historia
Brazilian investigator Rosalia Morais, and her husband, revered American spacer Nicolau Aames, are building a life together in Mars’s Maxwell City, the fastest-growing settlement on the planet. Good news: there are no natural predators. Bad news: there are humans. That means the crime rate is growing, too. To ensure public safety, Rosie’s appointed by the mayor as the Red Planet’s first chief of police.

Good story ruined by poor editing and. narration

Good sci-fi mystery; narrator could have been reading the phone book. An admiral would know how to pronounce " bow" and not make stupid. grammar mistakes

Historia
Did you know that most of our dinosaur fossils were discovered because two grown men absolutely hated each other? It’s true! Rivals! Frenemies Who Changed the World is a riotous audio exclusive, like if Monty Python taught your history class. Each volume of four 30-minute histories will dig into the petty name-calling and grumbling grudges that led to many of the world’s greatest advancements, all delivered with a cheeky sense of humor. Choose sides: Cope or Marsh, the jerks who discovered so many dinosaurs; Hamilton or Burr, whose rivalry fueled American politics; and many more....

Very entertaining . . .and informative, as well
Revisado: 07-17-21
I listened to this on a whim and I'm glad I did. The stories are all interesting, told in a humorous manner, and filled in a few gaps in my own knowledge of history. I highly recommend it to all.

Historia
Our universe is ruled by physics, and faster-than-light travel is not possible - until the discovery of The Flow, an extradimensional field we can access at certain points in space-time that transports us to other worlds, around other stars. Humanity flows away from Earth, into space, and in time forgets our home world and creates a new empire, the Interdependency, whose ethos requires that no one human outpost can survive without the others. It's a hedge against interstellar war - and a system of control for the rulers of the empire.

Exceptional!!
Revisado: 06-02-21
I am a Scalzi/Wheaton fan and always enjoy their collaborations. But this was outstanding even for them. Scalzi has given us an original, unpredictable plot and an amazing cast of characters ( each and every one brought to vivid life by Wheaton). I just finished listening and can't wait to start the sequel.

Disappointing Content

Not what I expected; raised a lot of questions not answered. Some interesting history. Would have preferred more detail on a number of things that were just mentioned, then dropped.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Scalzi and Wheaton, what more could you want?
Revisado: 07-05-20
Less than original plot handled with wit and compassion. Nobody writes like Scalzi and no one could read Scalzi like Wheaton. One of their best. DON'T SKIP THE CODAS!!
