Historia
White rural voters hold the greatest electoral sway of any demographic group in the United States, yet rural communities suffer from poor healthcare access, failing infrastructure, and severe manufacturing and farming job losses. Rural voters believe our nation has betrayed them, and to some degree, they’re right. In White Rural Rage, Tom Schaller and Paul Waldman explore why rural Whites have failed to reap the benefits from their outsize political power and why, as a result, they are the most likely group to abandon democratic norms and traditions.

Insightful
Revisado: 03-22-24
I've been attempting to understand why Republicans continue to back representatives who seemingly make no substantial contributions to their well-being. This has brought me closer to grasping the situation. However, I'm concerned that many are so entrenched in their positions that altering our current trajectory might be nearly impossible.

Historia
Victorian romance mixes seamlessly with elegant prose and biting wit—and werewolves—in Gail Carriger’s delightful debut novel. Soulless introduces Alexia Tarabotti, a parasol-wielding Londoner getting dangerously close to spinster status. But there are more important things than finding a husband. For Alexia was born without a soul, giving her the ability to render any vampire or werewolf completely powerless.

What an unexpected delight!

I wasn't so sure about this book when I started. I had read Victorian romances/mysteries before and enjoyed them ... but I wasn't too sure about throwing Vampires, Werewolves and Ghosts into the mix. However, Gail Carriger pulled it off. I thoroughly enjoyed Alexia Tarabotti after I got to know her. In the beginning, I thought it was kind of silly -- but at the end I had trouble putting the book down.
I will very much enjoy moving on to the next books in the series.
