Historia
In the dark, wintry highlands of Lochdubh, Scotland, where the local Calvinist element resists the secular trimmings of Christmas, the spirit of old Saint Nick is about as welcome as a flat tire on a deserted road. Nor is crime taking a holiday, as Constable Hamish Macbeth soon finds himself protecting an unhappy girl, unlocking the secrets of a frightened old woman, and retrieving some stolen holiday goods. Now the lanky lawman must use all his Highland charm and detective skills to make things right.

Charming Tale
Revisado: 08-22-22
D. E. Stevenson is a new author to me-I wish I’d know about her years ago. This charming, comical tale is set in 1930s England, and kept me laughing and entertained from beginning to end. It is the sweet tale of Miss Buncle, now married and living in a new town, where she spreads her guileless charm and mishaps among the inhabitants.

Classic L.M. Montgomery
Revisado: 09-27-21
This tale is a classic, sweet love story read by a talented narrator. I highly enjoyed the unabridged reading, and the sweet innocence of a bye-gone era. I do think it unfortunate that the Italian character in the story is portrayed as inclined to wickedness due to something innate in his ancestry, but we must take this as a sign of the prejudice of that time. Overall though, an excellent little tale to while away a few hours!

Historia
Of especially naughty children, it is sometimes said: “They must have been raised by wolves.” The Incorrigible children actually were. Discovered in the forests of Ashton Place, the Incorrigibles are no ordinary children: Alexander keeps his siblings in line with gentle nips; Cassiopeia has a bark that is (usually) worse than her bite; and Beowulf is alarmingly adept at chasing squirrels.

Entertaining for adults as well as children
Revisado: 04-07-19
I listen to a lot of audio books with my kids when we take road trips or even just drive around town. I heard good things about this series on a podcast and thought I’d check it out, and I wasn’t disappointed! I listened to the entire highly amusing, excellently narrated tale while packing up my house for a move, and it kept a smile on my face, as well as eliciting a few chuckles, for almost the entire book. Now I’m looking forward to listening again with my kids!
