Nita Prose has me in a chokehold with the 'Molly the Maid' series. I have absolutely adored these books and the characters are all top tier!! This sequel was the perfect cozy mystery read.

Molly, the now Head Maid, at The Regency Grand Hotel has the keen ability to recognize small almost invisible details that come in handy when solving a mystery. When a renowned mystery writer drops dead in the middle of the tea room at the hotel, Molly knows she must find the culprit responsible. Luckily, with Molly being the clever sleuth she is takes the reins to find the rat responsible.

Molly is literally the type of character you can't help but root for. When the book started out and said that Molly had been promoted to Head Maid, I cheered so loud. We also got our favorite side characters back and were introduced to some new ones that are sure to be fan favorites! The Mystery Guest is not just a wonderful sequel but a novel that can stand on its own as well. I can't wait for the next installment in the series!!

From the first introduction of our elusive narrator I knew this was different from Alex Michaelides previous two books. I was hooked by the first person narrative and I loved and hated just about all the characters for different reasons, which made reading that much more fun! I love the way Alex writes, and the care he puts into his work. This book was so twisty, I didn't know which way was up. Just when you think you know what's happening the table turns back and forth and side to side. I realized pretty quickly that Elliot was an unreliable narrator, and usually I am not a fan of unreliable narrators, but this time around I didn't mind it as much.

Thanks Celadon for letting me enjoy this title early in exchange for my honest review.

Giving this book 2 stars painfully hurts because I loved this first book so much. However, this was beyond boring, and that is saying something because the first was so fresh and thrilling and fun. The plot was messy and at most times I was confused, but didn't care enough to go back and figure it out. The plot was also so rushed, it was moving at supersonic speed and not in a fun way. I just was so disappointed.

I was hooked from the start of this book, and I am so glad I finally gave this book a read. I picked it up at a Free Lending Library one day for my sister (she loved the movie) and I randomly saw it on Audible and it was narrated by Wil Wheaton and I had to give it a try. I was shocked by how different it was from the movie, I mean completely different and if I hadn't seen the movie first, I feel like I wouldn't have liked it. But, I loved the movie before reading the book, so now I love both.

Wade Watts is a great character, NERDS UNITE, and I loved his journey through 80s nostalgia. While I'm not a gamer at all, and didn't know what 75% of the references were, I still really enjoyed this book. It was fun and had me at the edge of my seat.

I adored this book, almost as much as I love Kerry Washington herself. I will say that I knew next to nothing about her personal life. So when I saw this as one of the nominees for the biography/memoir of the year, I had to read it. I decided to listen to the audiobook, even though I already bought the book because I love listening to memoirs read in the voice of the author. I thought this book was beautiful, Kerry was so open and honest, which made me fall even more in love with her.

I love memoirs so much because I love learning about someone, what has shaped them into the person they are today. However, I don't love reading memoirs if the person doesn't truly open themselves up. I don't want to read half truths or just puff pieces, I want honest and real. That is exactly what Kerry Washington's book was honest and real. She opened the book with revealing that her parents were keeping a rather large familial secret from her...

She spoke about her childhood and how she grew up with insecurities developed by her parents lying and hiding things from her. She could tell early on that her parents would only tell her half truths and would in turn create an anxious Kerry. This affected how she communicated with them; she was loved by them and she contributes her love of learning to her mother and her creativeness to her father, but there was deep seated resentment for always being in the dark. She talked about her rise to fame and what it meant to her to play the iconic Olivia Pope. She spoke about working with political figures, her time in India, her marriage to Nnamdi, and becoming a mother.

She is someone that I respect and admire and reading this memoir only amplified it. I am truly in awe of you, Kerry Washington!

I could not put this book down!! Can I say, this was such a gripping read, I was hooked from the start.

One evening Rowan, a medical examiner, and her husband Axel, a homicide detective, get a phone call that pulls them away from their daughters play to a gruesome murder scene. Leaving a distraught daughter behind who utters the words, "You will love me more when I'm dead." Arriving on the scene they discover the body of their daughter's best friend, and once they arrive home realize their daughter has gone missing. As they search for their missing daughter more secrets, lies, and deaths are revealed. It is a race against the clock to figure out who is responsible for killing young girls. Are they connected? Is Chloe still alive? Can they save her in time? Will their marriage survive this trauma?

When I picked this book as my BOTM, I had no idea that it was part of a series, luckily that didn't deter the story for me at all, actually it makes me want to go buy the previous two books and give them a read! I loved the suspense, the tensions, all the secrets and lies, the unique plot, the overall dreary atmosphere of the book. I was also a HUGE fan of the multiple perspectives we got in this book. I was guessing left and right for who the murderer could be...

***Spoilers Below ****

Okay, I was guessing left and right...at one point I even was thinking Axel did it. However, when Eddie talked to Rowan in the supermarket about his sisters favorite candy being the same as Chloe's....I knew. Honestly, such great pacing and really haunting murders. I definitely want to read Hannah Morrissey's other books!!

Pageboy Review

Pageboy was a memoir I was so excited to read, not only do I have a physical copy, but I downloaded it on Audible as well, as I wanted to hear Elliot Page narrate as well. I think Elliot is a fantastic actor and before reading this I realized I knew next to nothing about his life. Elliot starts this book with saying how he isn't speaking for every trans person, or that his story is like any other person's story, and how he decided to write this book because books helped save him. I want to treat this review with just as much care and consideration Elliot did, but also be truthful in my review. I am not reviewing his stories or experiences, but rather the writing and narration of the book.

I've come to realize that I am not a fan of non-linear narratives, and this book was told in that style. Because of this style, Page doesn't always leave his chapters or stories fully formed, and that was the most frustrating part for me. I felt like this book just lacked a theme and was incomplete.

Overall, Page's narrative was deeply personal and you could feel the pain, hope, and love in his words. He is a beautiful person that deserves love and happiness just like everyone else.

I feel like giving this 3 stars, and that's being pretty generous. This was just an "ok" read for me. I love Lucy Foley, like ADORE her and her writing. The Paris Apartment is still my favorite read from her, but the mystery and guessing the killer, which I did guess from their first chapter...which is a new record for me.

Okay, I don't think I have ever been this shocked when reading a book. Not the plot or anything, but just how much I LOVED this book. I mean it was fantastic. I did not want it to end, it was such a good read. The Wishing Game is a feel-good book filled with not only likable characters, but ones you root for. I mean it is described as Willy Wonka but instead of chocolates it's books...and I can't describe this book any better than that.

Jack Masterson is a children's author and his books captivate the children who read them. However, Jack has not written a book in 6 years...until he announces he is holding a contest. He will choose four people (avid fans) to come to his private island and try and win the next book in the series. Lucy is chosen to go, and this might be the answer to her prayers. If she plays and wins, she could finally have her dream come true...

I cannot recommend this book enough, I loved every bit of it.

Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing Review

3 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 12-31-24

One thing that is undeniably true is that Matthew Perry held nothing back in this book, he was incredibly honest and open. I am not a friends fan per se, but I have seen majority of the show, and the best parts...at least for me were Chandler and Monica's characters. I have been a fan of Matthew Perry and think he is effortlessly funny. With that said, I didn't know much about his past (Keith Morrison is his stepfather, who knew) or how intense his battle with "the big terrible thing" was.

I can't believe how gripping his alcoholism and pill addiction had on him. I mean 55 Vicodin a day is like way more than a lot, right? The countless rehabs, the countless surgeries, the countless mistakes, and Perry never let it end him. He kept on getting back up, and that is saying a hell of a lot. I'm proud of him, and his journey.

This book did come with some flaws though like, the non linear timeline. It was just too much for me. I hated all the hopping around and thought it honestly could've done with some editing. I also thought Perry was a bit condescending and kind of a dick sometimes. Since part of this book was titled, "Friends" I was hoping for more about the show. Don't get me wrong there was still plenty discussed, but I wanted a bit more with the cast and their friendship with each other.

Matty, I wish you nothing but sobriety, happiness, and peace. Could you BE anymore awesome?!?!
