My first classic
Revisado: 06-03-16
I saw a TV movie years ago and wanted to refresh myself on the story. I'm so glad I did. Richard Poe did a great job reading this book. His voice is pleasing to listen to.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a great story. Even though it was a story from pre-WW1, the heart of the story can be very contemporary.

Historia
Shots rang out in Savannah's grandest mansion in the misty, early morning hours of May 2, 1981. Was it murder or self-defense? For nearly a decade, the shooting and its aftermath reverberated throughout this hauntingly beautiful city of moss-hung oaks and shaded squares. John Berendt's sharply observed, suspenseful, and witty narrative flows like a thoroughly engrossing novel, and yet it is a work of nonfiction.

Very enjoyable "read"
Revisado: 05-23-16
All of the characters in this story are real except the author's character.
Very well written and easy to put myself with all the players. Some really felt like family.
I had to "read" it in one day and I will re-read it again
Was VERY well read!

Historia
History tends to cast the early years of America in a glow of camaraderie when there were, in fact, many conflicts between the Founding Fathers - none more important than the one between George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Their disagreement centered on the highest, most original public office created by the Constitutional Convention: the presidency. It also involved the nation's foreign policy, the role of merchants and farmers in a republic, and the durability of the union.

With ribald humor, wit, and incredible insight, Alan seamlessly moves back and forth in time, integrating stories from his childhood in Scotland and his experiences today as the celebrated actor of film, television, and stage. At times suspenseful, at times deeply moving, but always incredibly brave and honest, Not My Father's Son is a powerful story of embracing the best aspects of the past and triumphantly pushing the darkness aside.

Everyone's picture of a natural winner, Ted Bundy was a bright, charming, and handsome man with a promising future as an attorney. But on January 24, 1989 Bundy was executed for the murders of three young women - and had confessed to taking the lives of at least thirty-five more women from coast to coast.

Ann Rule.....Rules
Revisado: 03-30-16
Ann Rule is my favorite true crime author. I think that I have read all of her books now. I don't know why it took me so long to "read" this one. Unfortunately this is my least favorite one. I love Ann's style of writing, but I thought she tried too hard to try to turn Ted Bundy into a regular person. He was a monster and she didn't seem to be able to except it. I know she was acquainted with him, but don't a lot of us know or have known questionable people? That's part of growing up. We have to take care of ourselves and watch out! I am so sorry that I can no longer look forward to a "new" Ann Rule book. Rest in Pease Sweet Lady!

Historia
The police in Jersey County, Illinois, accepted Paula Sims' story of a masked kidnapper who snatched her baby girl, Lorelei, from her bassinet. Three years later, her second newborn daughter suffered an identical fate - and this time the police were unable to stop searching until they had discovered the whole horrifying truth. This is the full terrifying story of twisted sexuality and hate seething below the surface of a seemingly normal family and of the massive investigation and nerve-shattering trial that made the unthinkable a reality.

You go Levi! So well written. I'm a 66 year old conservative and agree with Levi's choices. Levi, you stayed true to your own beliefs and you prayed and studied about them. You should be proud of not following blindly without gaining self knowledge. I will keep your book and re-read when I need encouragement. God bless you.
