Remarkably Unlikable Main Character
Revisado: 12-07-23
I tried to return this book 2 chapters in, but Audible told me I hadn't listened to enough of it to do that, so I listened to something else and then came back to it. I ended up finishing it by sheer willpower. The story itself could have been interesting, but the main character is so unlikeable I can't give it anything other than 2 stars. **Spoiler Alert** the fact that we are supposed to not just be ok with her framing someone she was close to for years for murder, but also cheer her on is just beyond belief. A very giant "BLECH" for this book. Don't waste your time, money, credits or brain cells on this one.

Struggled to finish. Bad all around.
Revisado: 09-12-23
I have been a fan of James Patterson. but this is probably the last one of his books on which I'll waste my money or time. The narration was bad, the story was mediocre at best, and the protagonists were so awful, entitled, condescending, judgemental, and whiny I almost found myself routing against them. Some of that might be because of the bad narrator, but it was enough to swear me off of Patterson for good.

Took too long to get to the point
Revisado: 07-22-23
I like the story concept, but the author just took way too long to tell it. I was also irritated by the out of the blue, completely pointless, and irrelevant reference to American politics. It had absolutely nothing to do with the story in any way and was totally unnecessary. If I could have returned it, I would have.

Historia
“The Heron” is the nickname a big-city accountant has attached to himself in his new home near San Diego, where he’s using the alias to avoid a hit man who may be after him. It seems a former client believes that The Heron has skipped town with several million dollars not his own. Don Winslow’s ensuing, entertaining yarn is by turns twisty, dark, and comical as we observe the delicate dance between the pursuer and the pursued.

Bogged down in the details and too many sighs
Revisado: 03-28-22
I am a John Grisham fan and this was a good story. I especially like the piece about redemption. However, there were way too many details about things that had no Dearing on the story. Also, this narrator insists on ending every sentence with a sigh. Although it was very irritating, it wasn't bad enough to keep me from finishing this book.

Great Story! Narration .... not so much
Revisado: 03-07-22
it was very hard to listen to the narrators "voice" for the bad guy. So much so that I almost gave up several times. The only thing that kept me going was that I read the Maximum Ride books with my kids when they were young, and I really wanted to finish their stories.

As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface. Great Story
Revisado: 07-29-21
Great Story, Great narration. I enjoyed it from start to finish. I usually avoid the stories that "preach" and there was a little bit of that here, but it was appropriate and palatable in the confines of the story. I am a fan of this author!
