True to his nickname, this writer clearly created false fictional stories to sell his rock biographies. His nickname should also be “Stephen Sellout” because he reported lies as new truths just to sell a book. He did it with Led Zepplin, so why not The Doors, right? Wrong! He should be held accountable for all of the lies that he spun about Jim Morrison. I’ve read many other biographies about Morrison from all of the other Doors’ members to some of his other friend’s accounts; but, never have I heard such nonsense about him before. Sellout Stephen accused Patricia Keneely of the very same thing that he did in good ole gaslighting fashion here. Oh wait, yeah that’s right, someone else just tried recently to tell similar wild lies & raucous rumors about Morrison to sell their new rockumentary too. I guess they had to dredge up some other evil angle to sell their books and mockumentaries. Don’t read or listen to this book without knowing that at least a quarter of it is bullshit.

I was impressed with Grohl’s storytelling and narration. However, I wanted to hear more about his Nirvana days & his journey with Taylor Hawkins. I loved his stories about his Mom, his wife & kids. You could hear the love & devotion he has for his family. Ultimately, I loved his expressions of joy for music, his passion for his craft as a musician & songwriter; being a fan of others, & a radically cool human being toward all of the fans of his music, bands & friends!

I have been a fan if U2 since I was in the 9th grade due to the albums War & Under a Blood Red Sky. Bono has inspires me & many of my friends in Pittsburgh to be spiritual teachers & activists in our communities, city & the world. I, like many others, told Eugene Petersen at Pgh. Theological Seminary, where he translated NT of the The
Message, that he was crazy not to meet with Bono & U2. “Bono & U2 evangelized us with their music, concerts, cries & songs for freedom, spirituality & justice! So go meet them!” Happy that we get to hear the spiritual journey of Bono & U2 in this lovely book, Surrender. I have been teaching on my own journeys to the Holy Land that synced with me listening to that chapter. And I’ve been teaching people, fellow alcoholics & addicts @ the Pgh. Recovery Center, about the need to “Surrender”. It has been sync moments of surrender, sharing & spirituality while reading this book. I highly recommend this book to all fans of U2 & Bono & to all seeking to surrender to the songs of the Spirit. Thank you Bono! Thank you U2! God loves U2!
