Historia
It was no secret that journalist Jack Sparks had been researching the occult for his new book. No stranger to controversy, he'd already triggered a furious Twitter storm by mocking an exorcism he witnessed. Then there was that video: 40 seconds of chilling footage that Jack repeatedly claimed was not of his making, yet it was posted from his own YouTube account. Nobody knew what happened to Jack in the days that followed - until now.

Ticks almost every one of my boxes. Damn close
Revisado: 01-10-24
This is my first story by dudeboy. It was PRETTY DAMN GOOD considering that I’ve not heard of him and I was still impressed. It is rare that I find books that I think will hold my attention! This one totally did.
Here we have what starts off as your classic possession story and it goes along with the obligatory religious story line until it doesn’t anymore. It’s not endorsing religion OR your basic science based interdimensional storyline either.
Is it fantasy, science-fiction, religious or is it a truly thought provoking intersection of all these genres that makes you think and leaves you wondering? You decide.
The only thing I found lacking was an acutely irreverent character whose self esteem and/or self worth was JUST low enough that they’re fine telling the whole world to eff all the way off and consequently saying funny shit throughout the narrative. That really would’ve pushed this one over the top for me but hey, they can’t ALL be home runs, k?
My top guys are Mr Stephen King, Jason Pargin, Joe Hill and Jack Townsends weird asses. And that list is in no particular order. All the above mentioned peeps are deranged in their own delightful ways. This dude is coming in strong with this intense jumble of all of the above.
Still, I’d definitely recommend this book for any or all the weirdos with discriminating tastes. The last few chapters will really bring this book together for you. Hang in there. It’s very worth it.

Historia
Kate Collins has been ghosted. She was supposed to be moving in with her new boyfriend, Scott, but all she finds after relocating to Brighton is an empty apartment. Scott has vanished. His possessions have all disappeared. Except for his mobile phone. Kate knows she shouldn't hack into Scott's phone. She shouldn't look at his Tinder, his calls, his social media. But she can't quite help herself. That's when the trouble starts. Strange, whispering phone calls from numbers she doesn't recognize. Scratch marks on the walls that she can't explain.

Fine, but not as good as “The Last Days….”
Revisado: 01-10-24
Better than “The Last Days of Jack Sparks?”It’s not even close in my opinion. As a Stephen King and hardcore Japan Pargin fan, this one is a great effort, but intriguing it ain’t.
It’s not even kind of equal to TLDOJS. I LOVED his other book that I’ve read but I don’t think this one is nearly as clever or as thought out as the other mentioned.
This one builds too slowly to the spooky ending and it is predictable for a hardcore sci-fi/fantasy reader. Worth a read? Sure, for a beginner but your meager credits would be better spent on Joe Hill or Jason Pargin or Jack Townsend or obviously King Stephen Kings stuff.
You can message Kiki Von Mermaid on FB or Instagram and I’ll send you my list of bests and worsts and in-betweens for fantasy and science-fiction and I’ve been listening for a hot minute and I have a good list of the weird and wild and dark and funny. I’ll share with you, my weirdos!! Kisses.

When she rides her bicycle over the rickety old covered bridge in the woods near her house, she always emerges in the places she needs to be. Vic doesn't tell anyone about her unusual ability, because she knows no one will believe her. She has trouble understanding it herself.

WHO wrote this? Stephen & Tabitha’s “kid?” Hmmmm
Revisado: 07-28-23
This story is great. In my opinion, it is very close to Kings quality, and definitely his imagination is there. Not sure why I expected any different. This was recommended for me several times before I got it, now I’m going to search for more of his stuff immediately!
I love how freely he ties in Stephen’s universes into the story. Several Easter eggs that made me smile and feel like I was reading something familiar from the old man himself. I listen to A LOT of audio books. I’m so pleased to have stories that hold my attention. Most stories don’t!
Yay, for the continuation of the King legacy and their service to the world!

Audie Award, Multi-Voiced Performance, 2016. The year is 2575, and two rival mega-corporations are at war over a planet that's little more than an ice-covered speck at the edge of the universe. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it. With enemy fire raining down on them, Kady and Ezra - who are barely even talking to each other - are forced to fight their way onto one of the evacuating fleet, with an enemy warship in hot pursuit.

Stephen King's first full-length solo novel since Dreamcatcher, the long-awaited From a Buick 8 is "nearly flawless and one terrific entertainment," says Publishers Weekly. A strange car acts as a conduit between our world and some other...and the boogeyman of this creepy story is our collective fascination with deadly things.

One of my favorites
Revisado: 12-27-22
I have read every single one of Mr Kings published works. I avoided this one until after I’d read most of his others because a story about a car did not seem like it would be my thing. How very wrong I was.
Mr King has always been excellent at character building and world development. His incredible insight into the nature of humanity shines through loud and clear here as well.
I genuinely loved all the characters and felt attached to them. Like most of his other works, he layers truly fascinating science fiction elements on top of the characters in a realistic manner.
I think that’s what makes his writings so great. Some authors do engaging characters well, some can do depth and existential meaning, some do romance, some do mind blowing horror and sci-fi concepts well. MMr King does all of those things exceptionally well and this book is a shining example of that.
The payoff in the end gives you a big enough peak into the mystery to be satisfying AND leaves your mind wondering through that portal for hours afterwards.
Read it. Do it. You won’t regret it.

Great concept but a little cliche’
Revisado: 12-27-22
I enjoyed this book. It had a great concept and the story finalized nicely.
However, the villains level of exposition was trite and silly. This book took itself too seriously. I would’ve loved to have seen a little humor; as in ANY humor.
If you were faced with gore and fantasmal visions of monsters and mayhem like those described, I think at least one character would have lost their shit pretty hard and just started laughing at everything.
Imagine a hell demon laying out its plan for the apocalypse and you not laughing yourself stupid at it. It was just so Bond-Villain.
Performance was good. He has good distinct voices and accents that made each character easily distinguishable.
The characters were all caricatures of their respective roles. IMO this book is worth reading and it held my attention but I’ve been spoiled by authors like Jack Townsend and Jason Pargin. My final answer is 3 out of 5 stars.

I found the journal at work. Well, I don't know if you'd call it work, but that's where I found it. It's the lost journal of Nikola Tesla, one of the greatest inventors and visionaries ever. Before he died in 1943, he kept a notebook filled with spectacular claims and outrageous plans.

Five stars
Revisado: 10-23-22
This was funny, thoughtful and heart warming. All around win. I laughed a lot and that’s rare. I love sci-fi but so much of it is too dry and takes itself too seriously. I immediately bought the next books in the series. My only complaint is that it was too short.

Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, Carolyn is gaining an - um - intimate knowledge of her new neighbor's nocturnal adventures. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed "dating hiatus," and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor.

Revisado: 11-05-15
This book was just ok. It ended nicely and had some memorable moments but the conflict sequence; her personal struggle; his confusion about what love is yada yada yada took too long.
Also the story telling is bland. They teach you in high school writing classes to paint a picture not just plainly state the situation. The writer missed that class.
