Historia
Quentin Coldwater is brilliant but miserable. A senior in high school, he's still secretly preoccupied with a series of fantasy novels he read as a child, set in a magical land called Fillory. Imagine his surprise when he finds himself unexpectedly admitted to a very secret, very exclusive college of magic in upstate New York, where he receives a thorough and rigorous education in the craft of modern sorcery.

Couldn't Put It Down!
Revisado: 06-28-15
I knew the writing is riveting, intense and awesome when I couldn't put the book down until about half way through. Then I felt like the author could have edited it down by another chapter or two to make it more precise and concise. Otherwise well done. But the plot twists and turns were great and quite unexpected. I can't wait for the 2nd in the series!

Music is the only form of communication Connor Owens controls. No matter how badly he wishes to fit in, friendly banter and casual conversations have never been his thing. College is yet another social universe he has no clue how to navigate - until he meets Jared, a football player with chestnut eyes and a cocky grin that holds the power to shatter his self-imposed prison.

This Story Rocks!
Revisado: 06-15-15
I never know if I'll get a romantic story with heart or a story in between a lot of romance. It felt awesome to be gripped with this story and never wanting it to stop. It's a rare treat when I can't put a book down or can't wait to continue to listen but the author was so very successful. I cared about Jared and Connor and their travels in life through their freshman year in college. Bravo and well done!

Superb BBC Radio Drama
Revisado: 05-21-15
I purchased this audiobook because I fell in love with the quality of BBC radio dramas for their unique humor, acting and writing. This drama didn't fail! I have a friend who won't listen to "acted" audiobooks with sound effects however he's since changed his mind because the effects blend so well with the story and the laughter isn't a laugh track, which I hate also. Kudos for the entire cast for making me wish I could fly on their zany and kooky airlines! Bravo and well done, BBC!

Historia
When first published in 1759, Candide became an instant best seller and is now regarded as one of the key texts of the Enlightenment. Voltaire’s preoccupations with evil and with various kinds of human folly and intolerance found a perfect vehicle in this philosophical tale. A master storyteller, he combined often wildly entertaining action with profoundly serious sense, parodying the traditional chivalric and oriental tales with which his public was more familiar.

Revisado: 05-19-15
Kudos to Jack Davenport for his wonderful narration but the story left me wanting. It carried me along for the short ride but I just didn't care for Candide or any of the other characters in the book - it never came alive. Yes, there was humor and yes, there was a point to the story but, sorry, I didn't care. I might read it again to check if I was too harsh of a critic but usually my gut is spot on. Usually. Prove me wrong in my 2nd reading in another year or so.

Definitely one of my favorite books
Revisado: 05-19-15
Don't read this in public, like an airplane, train, packed bus or anywhere near people you don't know. Never, ever! Even if you're macho or can hide your feelings, if you have an ounce of humanity, you'll end up like me when you read this book. I guffawed, chuckled, smiled; bawled, cried, whimpered; cursed, saddened; grieved. Most of this book was pure laugh-out-loud fun but if you read the first book, "Bear, Otter, & the Kid," you'll know and love these fictional characters and this story as if it was real and you care about them. I had my doubts about the narrator, Charlie David, but after the story picks up you could hear the laughter in his voice and when his voice cracks you know, you understand, that he wants to cry right along with you. Bravo, TJ Klune and good job Charlie David!

Historia
Three years ago, Bear McKenna’s mother took off for parts unknown with her new boyfriend, leaving Bear to raise his six-year-old brother Tyson, aka the Kid. Somehow they’ve muddled through, but since he’s totally devoted to the Kid, Bear isn’t actually doing much living. With a few exceptions, he’s retreated from the world, and he’s mostly okay with that - until Otter comes home. Otter is Bear’s best friend’s older brother, and as they’ve done for their whole lives, Bear and Otter crash and collide in ways neither expect.

Beyond Perfection
Revisado: 04-18-15
There are two things I liked about this book: TJ Klune is a remarkable, wonderful and fantastic wordsmith and Sea Crisden making me laugh and cry and fall in love with Bear, Otter and the Kid! I'm a finnicky male/male romance reader-listener. Sex in a story is fine but it has to take the back seat to a character-driven plot and storyline and - SUCCESS - this story hits all the right mark. Seriously, Mr. Crisden has a remarkable voice; he could narrate a story about spark plugs and I'd be riveted. Please bring him back for more stories, be it non-fiction, regular fiction, or anything. This man's voice is what is golden.

Top Notch Stories - Superb Narrator!
Revisado: 04-16-15
I've always loved books about sailing, tall ships, treasures, etc., and the Hornblower series doesn't fail. Plus the narrator, Christian Rodska, is superb and brings the books and characters to life! My own note: I haven't read books about high seas adventures in years until I found "Fiddler's Green" about an unlikely sailor becoming a privateer during the Revolution. From then on, I burned to read more. Thanks Audible for making these available! (When will you bring the other CS Forester books to Audible???!)

Dating is hard enough. Throw in an incontinent Chihuahua, an unrequited love affair, a severe case of social anxiety disorder, a dying father, and a man-eating hog, and it becomes darned near impossible. Still, it takes two to tango - and when Tom Morgan, a mild-mannered assistant bank manager with a debilitating case of shyness, meets Frank Wells, who is straight off the farm and even shyer than he is, sparks start flying.

Mixed Reviews
Revisado: 04-13-15
This was a difficult topic for the author plus who to pick for the narrator with the right voice tenor. I thought that the narrator played just the right emotion for this topic of severe shyness but how can the correct narration happen when the story felt so lackluster. About midway through I felt this story was heading in a certain direction and it, and sadly, it didn't miss that direction. They were shy so they would have sex. They were shy so they'd room together. I just felt I didn't care for the characters after while and hoped the story would end. Sorry for the harsh critique but It's how I felt.

This Is A Real Life For Some People
Revisado: 04-13-15
Imagine you are a teen and kicked out to live or die on your own. Sad, but it happens, especially if the child is gay. I had a very soft spot for Zach in this story who had to endure pain from an abusive father then kicked out. Zach is one of the lucky ones: he was found by a kindhearted policeman while asleep on a bench in a church lot and taken in by a loving family for Christmas. The narrator does a very good job with this story. He doesn't overly dramatize nor play down the emotions. His voice, deep and comforting, is very soothing so we know things will turn out positively but I still cried and got very emotional to everything in this storyline. Well, done!

Fair Romp on the High Seas
Revisado: 04-01-15
The critics were right: this selection was written from another perspective and not in Hornblower's character and voice. I still loved it although it was a bit different.than what I anticipated. The narrator was excellent as before and he made it highly entertaining.
