Angela Davis' foreword situates the work for the reader and provides insight into the author that is highly valuable in a reading of his work.

Walter Rodney provided us with a magnificently composed, extremely thorough, history of the dialectical of development/underdevelopment between Europe and North America, and Africa. While much of the aspects may be known or obvious to some, this compendium of a the intersections and interactions of the exploitation and oppression of Africa is indispensable and should be read in its entirety by anyone wishing to reflect on their own relation to history and be historical actor of any kind.
