Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

So inspiring
Revisado: 01-17-25
After listening to this I bought it to read aloud to my teenage boys on a road trip. We will go back and forth between the audio book (when my voice gets tired! Haha). I loved how the author weaved a self help book with a novel with a history lesson- threads creating a beautiful, inspiring tapestry! A+

Historia
Fleeing a disastrous marriage, Helen Huntingdon retreats to the desolate mansion, Wildfell Hall, with her son, Arthur. There, she makes her living as a painter. Finding it difficult to avoid her neighbors, she is soon an object of speculation and gossip. Brontë portrays Helen's eloquent struggle for independence at a time when society defined a married woman as her husband's property.

Brilliant
Revisado: 11-09-24
I’m so impressed with this book. I didn’t find it predictable. I had only read Withering Heights in high school, which I hated, before 2 friends in the same week recommended Jane Eyre- which I fell in love with. I decided I needed to try the third Brontë sister and I think this one ended up being my favorite! I’m going to buy the paperback to add to my collection of favorites, and read it aloud to my daughter when she is older. I loved the plot, the characters, the surprises but most of all the morals without preaching. I felt myself called to live and love in a higher way- similar to how I felt after reading Jane Eyre.
Very good read. Performed very well. Loved the whole thing!

I can’t believe I’m in my 40’s and haven’t read Jane Austin until now. Maybe I wasn’t mature enough before, but oh how I loved these novels! Good for the mind and soul reads. And 6 books for one credit!!

Powerful
Revisado: 07-01-20
This is one of the most powerful books I’ve ever read. It portrays slavery in the American South from the perspective of a free educated black man who lived through it, being kidnapped, enslaved, and abused. It is not only a very engaging and fascinating true story, but also an important and enlightening one.
Everyone should read this book; white and black alike.

Historia
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Epic epic
Revisado: 06-14-20
The overall story is pretty great, as are most of Brandon Sanderson’s popular books. A couple parts really reminded me of the Mistborn series he wrote, and Elantris as well.
Michael Kramer does a lot of Sanderson’s works on audible, and does a pretty good job, although not as expressive as some narrators on Audible, he does a good job. Unfortunately, Kate Reading’s reading is a little funky in pronunciation and the emphasis on words. Her voice for the male characters are... not very good. It sounds a little like a cartoon little girl pretending to sound like a pirate. You get used to the rest of her reading though.
Other than Kate Reading’s pronunciation some times, the book is super good. The story is definitely not to blame, but only the narration is a little faulty. Overall I recommend, so grin and bear the Kate Reading chapters, and you won’t regret it.

Eyal lays bare the secret of finally doing what you say you will do with a four-step, research-backed model. Indistractable reveals the key to getting the best out of technology, without letting it get the best of us.
