Historia
Cayce Pollard is an expensive, spookily intuitive market-research consultant. In London on a job, she is offered a secret assignment: to investigate some intriguing snippets of video that have been appearing on the Internet. An entire subculture of people is obsessed with these bits of footage, and anybody who can create that kind of brand loyalty would be a gold mine for Cayce's client. But when her borrowed apartment is burgled, she realizes there's more to this project than she had expected.

"He took a duck in the face at 250 knots."
Revisado: 03-04-15
An engaging story paired with an excellent narrator -- this is a Gibson novel that's well worth a listen. The characters are interesting, the slow build and reveal of the plot engaging, and Frasier's almost wry tone is note-perfect for Cayce.

They were just kids when they stumbled upon the horror of their hometown. Now, as adults, none of them can withstand the force that has drawn them all back to Derry, Maine, to face the nightmare without end, and the evil without a name.

Disappointing Denouement
Revisado: 03-04-15
If I'd only listened to the first 30-odd hours of this story, it would be a solid 5 stars in every category. Weber gives a great performance, and the first 2/3 of King's novel are incredibly compelling. The plot moves back and forth in time in shorter and shorter increments, and it becomes hard to pause the audiobook before listening to /just one more chapter/.
Unfortuantely, the denouement does not live up to the promise of the build-up. As often seems to happen in King's works, the ultimate reveal of and battle with the monster is less tense and scary than the whispers and allusions to it in earlier chapters. Also disappointing was the way in which the female characters developed through the text ultimately became disposable plot-points or the focus of a love triangle. Compared to the painstaking care in the early chapters with creating nuanced characters and separate stories that weave together in a sinister way, the ending felt very rushed.
If you've already read and enjoyed the novel (or if you're already well aware of King's problems with sticking an ending), Weber gives a performance that's well worth the cost of the audiobook.

Not Gibson's best
Revisado: 03-04-15
I'm generally a fan of Gibson's work, but this story just didn't grab me. The various plot threads were completely separate for much of the book, the ways in which they finally intersected weren't terribly compelling, and the resolution felt unfinished. Some great lines and scenes still, but nothing I would reread.

Historia
In a village in ancient Norway lives a boy named Odd, and he's had some very bad luck: His father perished in a Viking expedition; a tree fell on and shattered his leg; the endless freezing winter is making villagers dangerously grumpy. Out in the forest Odd encounters a bear, a fox, and an eagle - three creatures with a strange story to tell. Now Odd is forced on a stranger journey than he had imagined, a journey to save Asgard, city of the gods, from the Frost Giants who have invaded it.

Odd and the Frost Giants
Revisado: 01-09-12
My favourite of Gaiman's audiobooks are those he reads himself. He has a wonderful voice for storytelling, and brings his already very descriptive prose to life. /Odd/ is not my favourite of his stories, but it is a good, quick listen, with an engaging story.
