Loved the tension between Mac & CJ. This story had a good reason for CJ's reluctance. The subplot of the story was interesting & true to life. There are bad cops who abuse their power. I've seen it happen. Not "woke" just life.

Would have given the performance 5 stars had it not been for the jarring mispronunciation of Notte. The first time she said "Not" instead of "No-Tay" it took me right out of the story. Which is too bad as I've really enjoyed this narrator's previous work. I blame whoever is responsible for continuity, not Stacey.

This is another great story in the Argeneau series. The storyline is grimmer than the others, but with Santo's history it had to be.

My only real complaint is with whoever handles the continuity for the narration. Someone should have told the narrator that Marguerite was originally British, not Italian. It was hard to get past that when listening. Brian Pallino's deep voice is perfect for Santo, even tho it took me by surprise when first hearing it.
