Historia
Nancy Kranich (played by Emmy-nominated actress Natasha Lyonne of Russian Doll and Orange Is the New Black) is a night nurse on an orbiting space station. But Nancy hates her job, is sick of space, and longs to find adventure and a safe place to smoke cigarettes that won’t blow everyone up. But when Nancy gets caught up in an outer-space conspiracy involving President Kennedy, former vice-president Richard Nixon, and an intergalactic object that could change the course of history, she gets way more adventure than she bargained for.

Zany, fun & nostalgic
Revisado: 11-13-24
This was great as both political satire and alternate history. As humorous as the first act was the sci fi element was also genuinely intriguing. Can't wait for Space '73

Amazing Series & book
Revisado: 02-06-23
I love this series about the cynical, perpetually bad tempered and foul mouthed former palace guard on a seemingly impossible quest to save his kingdom and avenge his loved ones, with some help from his eclectic best friends. I feel like Mayberry has successfully channeled the best parts of Conan, Tarzan, and Lovecraft to create a truly imaginative and entertaining saga! Can't wait for book 3 but I hope there are many more!

Historia
Andrew Roberts' Napoleon is the first one-volume biography to take advantage of the recent publication of Napoleon's thirty-three thousand letters, which radically transform our understanding of his character and motivation. At last we see him as he was: protean multitasker, decisive, surprisingly willing to forgive his enemies and his errant wife Josephine.

Very engaging history
Revisado: 07-19-22
The author obviously did his homework and at the same time created a very vivid portrait of the man and the times he lived in. The narrator was great, very lively and engaged.

Historia
In the first months of 1936, Adolf Hitler risked everything by ordering his untrained military to reoccupy the Rhineland. It was a bluff. The Germans would have been forced to retreat if the French or British had offered the slightest opposition. But the bluff succeeded. History changed decisively. Hitler quieted the opposition at home, and marched the world relentlessly on, to the edge of destruction and beyond.

Enthralling Story With Great Characters
Revisado: 06-05-22
I've read a lot of alternate histories over the years. The idea of Hitler being defeated during the Rhineland affair was intriguing to me & the plot & history was very well executed, with what I consider to be relatively minor, believable historical divergences that were in of themselves interesting to consider. What I had not reckoned with was the author's great writing ability to make these characters seem flesh and blood. I found myself getting wrapped up in the lives of Heinrich, Elizabeth, Karl & Rosamunde, wanting them to succeed & live happily ever after. Not just good Alt Hist., but a great piece of literature too. My complements to the narrator on an excellent rendition.

Addicting!
Revisado: 07-12-18
I stumbled on to laird barron about a month ago and have already gone through three compilations and one novel. Really great offbeat cosmic horror with a hardboiled edge, particularly if you are someone who has grown weary of certain horror novelists with more media celebrity. His books are best when read in order, as many of the characters are interconnected. Also, audible does a great job with skilled narration even though I'm sure the print versions are equally gripping.

This Lovecraft classic is a must-have for every fan of classic terror. When a geologist leads an expedition to the Antarctic plateau, his aim is to find rock and plant specimens from deep within the continent. The barren landscape offers no evidence of any life form - until they stumble upon the ruins of a lost civilization. Strange fossils of creatures unknown to man lead the team deeper, where they find carved stones dating back millions of years. But it is their discovery of the terrifying city of the Old Ones that leads them to an encounter with an untold menace.
