Historia
Once a united Legion, the disparate splinters of the Emperor’s Children now eke out a violent, hedonistic existence between the stars, raiding and ravaging worlds to indulge their fathomless appetites. Xantine, proud leader of the Adored and a true son of Fulgrim, wants more than simply pillaging backwater worlds. He soon finds what he has been searching for – Serrine, a wealthy but cruel planet festering under misrule and inequality, cut off from the Imperium by warp storms. It is too tantalising a prize to ignore, and Xantine sets out to bring perfection to his new world.

A good Emperor's Children Story.
Revisado: 11-29-24
I honestly thought Lord Of Excess was decent. Historically I really haven't been a big fan of the Emperor's Children as a Legion, or Fulgrim especially as their Primarch. However this story really did a lot for me, and was much better than I thought it would be. My biggest problem is Richard Reed's portrayal of the main character Xantine. I love Richard Reed, and I think he's a phenomenal narrator, and while I think he does quite well with everyone else in the book, the specific voice he does for Xantine just really doesn't fit in my opinion. It bugged me through the whole book. The story is nothing crazy, but it's good for what it is, a bit predictable at points, but certainly not bad. Overall I really liked Lord Of Excess, and if you're already an Emperor's Children fan, I'd say this book is a must have.

Now hell has come to Hydra Cordatus, for a massive force of terrifying Iron Warriors, the brutal assault masters of Chaos, have invaded the planet and lain siege to its mighty Imperial citadel. But what prize could possibly be worth so much savage bloodshed and destruction—and how long can the defenders possibly hold out?

Iron within, Iron without!
Revisado: 11-21-24
This is a really great book, and I honestly had a very good time listening to it. If you're a fan of the Iron Warriors at all, I think this book is a must have honestly. The back and fourth between the Iron Warrior characters is great, and the side characters are also very interesting. This book gives you a good look at the slow, grinding, calculated siege warfare of the Iron Warriors, and shows you exactly why they, as a Legion, carried the heresy so hard. Good book for a chaos fan. Fantastic book for an Iron Warriors fan. I'd highly recommend, and remember kids, From iron cometh strength From strength cometh will From will cometh faith From faith cometh honor From honor cometh iron. This is the Unbreakable Litany. May it forever be so.

A dark horror romance about loss and mortality
Revisado: 10-08-24
So, the best synopsis that I can give you for this book without spoiling too much is if took the plot from The Shape of Water, but swapped out the humanoid fish monster with The Thing. This story really worked for me, and I do NOT like romances at all. But it's very sweet, it touches a lot on loss and mortality, and overall I really loved it. I also think the narrator did a fantastic job, she was great. If you're looking for a dark Lovecraftian romance, this is the book for you. Even if you're not looking for any of those things, I'd still recommend the book anyway. It's just great overall. The story, the characters, all of it. 8/10.

One of the most chilling stories I've ever heard
Revisado: 05-21-24
So, a bit of a precursor here, but when I was much younger I watched the film adaptation of this book that came out in 2008. I was always mixed on it because I found the premise to be very interesting, but I felt that the film really just didn't do enough with it, not enough to stand out when it easily could have. A few years ago I found out that the film The Ruins (2008) was based on this book, at the time I didn't know that it was an adaptation. Regardless I was immediately curious, and made a personal promise to myself to get through this book, one way or another. Well, I finally sat down and gave it a listen, and honestly? This has got to be one of the most chilling books that I have ever listened to, hands down. I physically couldn't stop listening. If you're looking for a good horror story you owe it to yourself to pick this book up, I really can't recommend it enough. 10/10.

Pretty good, if you're into the Death Guard
Revisado: 11-07-23
The Lords Of Silence was decent, I just finished it, and while I certainly wasn't blown away by any means, it was still a good story for what it was. I'm just not a huge Death Guard fan, and I listened to this only after listening to the Night Lords Trilogy by Aaron Dembski-Bowden, so unfortunately I think I was going to be a bit disappointed either way. Still, as I said before, this is a good story, it just didn't do a lot for me if I'm being honest, I'd mainly recommend this if you're a Death Guard fan.
