Annoyingly good.
Revisado: 08-26-21
Izzy is one of the most annoyingly unlikable characters I have ever met but her portrayal by Imelda Staunton was so good I could not stop listening.
Supporting cast was great too and the story, although somewhat predictable, still made it a worthwhile read.

John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wriggly yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be the same.

Good book to read
Revisado: 02-21-07
I think this was a good book. The parts that I listened to were and my wife certainly enjoyed reading it, but I, like others, could not get past the author's naration. Oh well.
My advice is to buy the hardware and read it.

Historia
Thomas Cahill tells the story of how Europe evolved from the classical age of Rome to the medieval era. Without Ireland, the transition could not have taken place. Not only did Irish monks and scribes maintain the very record of Western civilization, they brought their uniquely Irish world-view to the task. As Cahill delightfully illustrates, so much of the liveliness we associate with medieval culture has its roots in Ireland. When the seeds of culture were replanted on the European continent, it was from Ireland that they were germinated.

Interesting but slow
Revisado: 11-03-06
The content was really very interesting but the pace was so sloooow. A good book to read at bedtime as it will help you fall asleep - not so good for me as I listen to all my books in the car.
