Each of us is born with a built-in supercomputer called a brain. But, it has been said that humans can only access a small fraction of its ability. Your brain is like a computer. Your behaviors are computer programs. And NLP is the user manual. We are hardwired to react to certain situations, people, or things.

NOT A “HOW-TO” BOOK
Revisado: 05-04-22
I thought this would teach how to practice NLP. It does not. It is a history book, period. If that’s what interests you, great. But if you want to learn SKILLS, this book is NOT A good choice. I wasted my money.

Historia
More than 50 years since the passage of the Equal Pay Act, the wage gap still hovers at 80 percent, and only five percent of CEOs in the Fortune 500 are women. Today, rising up the ranks in many companies still often means cutthroat, win-at-all-costs tactics, where being the loudest voice in the room is more important than being the person with the best ideas for moving the company forward. Not surprisingly, most women don’t want to play this game.

Couldn’t finish it
Revisado: 12-18-19
I was curious, and I do believe that the author had some negative experiences and that there is plenty of politics and cliquish behavior in corporate America among men and women alike, and she got the short end of the stick a few times. That’s all worth sharing.
However, when she starts theorizing and drawing conclusions about thoughts and behaviors, there is so much unsubstantiated and erroneous conjecture that it becomes whiny fiction. She may be an expert in some things, but definitely not in social science research. (I’m trained in that.) She should stay in her lane, write the auto biographical narrative and share the facts as they occurred, yes. That’s fair perspective. But once she shifted gears it became intolerable. By the time I got to the halfway point I had to stop.
If you have experienced a lot of political frustration at work, her experience will feel very validating, which is fine, but be wary of accepting her theorizing beyond that.
Unless you are looking for someone to commiserate with, don’t waste your time with this book

PAINFUL NARRATION, good story
Revisado: 12-18-19
The story is good in the lessons are worth learning so definitely get a copy of this book, but not THIS copy! The narrator is absolutely horrible. I cannot understand how he was selected. Robotic and monotonous, breaking up sentences in meaningless locations that kills the flow. Every sentence sounds exactly the same, as if he were reading the ingredients off of the back of a shampoo bottle.
Do yourself a favor and either read the book yourself or listen to someone else’s rendition!

Historia
What if charisma could be taught? For the first time, science and technology have taken charisma apart, figured it out and turned it into an applied science: In controlled laboratory experiments, researchers could raise or lower people's level of charisma as if they were turning a dial. What you'll find here is practical magic: unique knowledge, drawn from a variety of sciences, revealing what charisma really is and how it works. You'll get both the insights and the techniques you need to apply this knowledge. The world will become your lab, and every person you meet, a chance to experiment.

Worth the time
Revisado: 12-07-18
I do a lot of coaching on public speaking and executive presence. This is a great resource for clients and helped me to frame a solid breakdown of what it is that creates charisma in a way that I could explain it simply to others.
The narrator did a good job overall. My only criticism, if any, was that her voice was not a great fit for this work. It’s a little thin and raspy, the her delivery skill is good, but when the author made statements like “when I coach executives…“ It seemed odd that this voice was the one that executives would turn to. Again, not a dealbreaker by any means but the only detail that I found to be a distraction from time to time.
Highly recommended overall.
