Despite what other reviewers say, this was quite enjoyable. I especially like how they developed the relationships between all the team members. I hope they do more with Shoshanna & Aaron!

Historia
In the not-too-distant future, massive climate change has wracked the globe. China's rice-growing regions have been devastated by typhoons, while its western breadbasket is suffering from three years of drought. Riots threaten to tear the country apart. With the old-guard Chinese government paralyzed by the crisis, a young, charismatic party leader steps to the fore. His solution to the unrest is a time-tested one - conquest of China's neighbors and, after that, the world.

Good characters & action - pretty one dimensional
Revisado: 11-29-22
Very believable story. I like the character development. Not too much action, but quit a bit. Adrenaline junkies probably won't like it. Pretty much just the one story line however.
My big complaint is that the story ended without any wrap-up or "feel good" at all!!!! It was over the instant the action ended. BAD!!! Allowing a "purging of the emotions" and feeling good at the end is the best part.
Minus one star for this and minus one star for the one dimensional story (see Tom Clancy's original novels if you don't know what I mean).

Historia
With President Anthony Cook convinced that Mitch Rapp poses a mortal threat to him, CIA Director Irene Kennedy is forced to construct a truce between the two men. The terms are simple: Rapp agrees to leave the country and stay in plain sight for as long as Cook controls the White House. In exchange, the administration agrees not to make any moves against him. This fragile détente holds until Cook’s power-hungry security adviser convinces him that Rapp has no intention of honoring their agreement. To put him on the defensive, they leak the identity of his partner, Claudia Gould.

Wow. Sorry it ended. Finally a series that shows the main character progressing like a real person...growing emotionally and physically. Getting older. More of the character development, but still lots of intrigue. Less action than others.

Historia
Jerry Mitchell, skipper of the USS North Dakota, receives a message from Girish Samant, a submarine captain and former enemy of his, requesting a meeting. That meeting revives memories of a submarine he'd served on many years ago and a mission that proved far more dangerous and important than he had expected.

Revisado: 09-13-22
While it had more of a single story line, it was so well written an executed it was hard to put down. And it didn't focus just on Jerry Mitchell. Although I was never excited about submarine novels before the first Jerry Mitchell, I can't wait for the next one. Especially since there's a lack of Mitch Rapp and "Tom Clancy" books.

Another homerun
Revisado: 08-24-22
I used to be hooked on the espionage genre, not so hot on submarines, but this, and another series have changed my mind.
Multiple story lines, like Clancy. AND they finished up telling what happens to the characters after its all over. So many stories have been skipping that, cutting it off as soon as the actions finished. Wha wha what? Thanks to these authors that did not skimp on the story!

While trailing a Chinese nuclear attack sub, Jerry Mitchell, the captain of USS North Dakota, is shocked to see the Chinese boat torpedo a Vietnamese merchant ship. This blatant act of aggression is the opening gambit in a war that has blindsided the U.S. and quickly embroiled all nations in the western Pacific. These nations, bound together in the newly formed Littoral Alliance, have begun a covert submarine campaign aimed at crippling China’s economy.

Little heavy on the action, short on character dev
Revisado: 07-08-22
Pretty much a single track story that's a little heavy on the adrenaline pumping action. If that's what you like, great. Wish there was a little more character development. Will I buy the next one? Probably. But if it goes this direction more, it'll be my last.
Narrator was top notch. AND the chapters were accurately reflected on my android...a rare thing!

Revisado: 06-07-22
The narrator was top notch. The story was riveting, although a little one-sided.
Love the deep dive into the individual characters. But got my tech fix too. Good action, but not non-stop like a lot of"adrenaline junkie" stories. AND there was a moral, as explained in the author interview on the last 45 minutes.

A story to lose sleep over
Revisado: 05-20-22
Even though this is a story with a single plot line, it was fascinating! Not for adrenaline addicts, but it moved along. And really developed the characters. The narrator was top notch. I could almost always tell who was speaking.
Don't see how this author could create another book this good though.
