The first time I read this I was utterly floored. it is an Exquisite love story so when it came out as an audible book I had to buy it. it turns out that the book in audible form was just as good has the written word. Miss Baker does a wonderful job reading this book. I cannot say enough about this wonderful wonderful love story with the exception that the second book is just as good.

I love Pern's dragons. I love most if not all of Anne McCaffrey 's books but this is my favorite.

I really liked the story, with the exception of the level of Luca's mental illness. Speaking as someone who was diagnosed with PTSD. I know how it effected me and still does. You would not know it to look at me. Mine made me angry which was good more energy. So I 'm not saying Luca didn't have issues. Just that they might have been excessive for someone who didn't have prior problems. I still believe what don't kill ya makes you strong. Trust me when I tell you therapy helps.

To say that I loved this series hardly covers it. I loved the first book Radiance and I waited for the second, Eidolon believing that it could not possibly be as wonderful as the first. Again, I was wrong. It is a love story, a true romance. Two people who were only "spares," and whose marriage was expected to be in name only prove themselves to be greater together than those who were thought to be their betters. Of course when I purchased the audible versions, the narrator was exceptional as well.

Grim is not "Grim"

Would you listen to Grim again? Why?

Would I listen to Grim again? Are you joking? I have already listened to it like 4 times. I have read it as many times and I am beginning to know it by heart. I have to be honest though, The story is like eating bon bons without the calories. It is not profound literature. I cannot compare it to Jane Eyre, or Pride and Prejudice. That is not saying that it isn't wonderful just as it is. These comments cover the plot without a spoiler. It is a little naughty which is half the fun.

Now, the performance was excellent. I loved the sound effects the whoosing doors. It reminded me of a radio performance. I don't actually remember radio programs on the radio what I do remember is being spell bound listening to my blind grandmothers "stories". She would play them on her phonograph. Sometimes she would read to us running her fingers over the raised dots on the pages. Sometimes she would provide sound effects, or embellish the action. Point is. I really enjoyed listening to the enhancements it reminded me of the radio programming. I enjoyed it so much I just keep playing it over and over. Kudos to Commodore James and Laura Jennings.

What other book might you compare Grim to and why?

I guess I would compare it to "Hunters Claim" and "Razors Traitorous Heart" by S.E. Smith. Once again I have listened to them multiple times.

Which character – as performed by Commodore James and Laura Jennings – was your favorite?

"Grim" I loved the character and I truly loved the sound effects.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I am unsure any part of this book moved me exactly. If I were to pick something I would have to say when the main character "Lisa" stood up for her self and fellow human females before the various houses in the assembly.

Any additional comments?

It is a fun read and even better when I can crochet, knit or do needle point while listening. I must confess since getting my audible books we have a lot more dollies.
