Historia
What if politics as we know it is about to end? What if humanity soon organizes itself not in hierarchies, but in hive minds? Should we fear the robot apocalypse? Welcome to The Social Singularity. In this decentralization manifesto, futurist Max Borders shows that humanity is already building systems that will “underthrow” great centers of power. With lively prose, Borders takes us on a tour of modern pagan festivals, cities of the future, and radically new ways to organize society. In so doing, he examines trends likely to revolutionize the ways we live and work.

Unnecessarily rude and dismissive
Revisado: 11-11-22
The writer clearly knows their subject but makes large leaps in logic and then calls anyone that doesn’t agree with them names.

Historia
It’s only a slight exaggeration to say that the British mathematician Alan Turing (1912-1954) saved the Allies from the Nazis, invented the computer and artificial intelligence, and anticipated gay liberation by decades--all before his suicide at age forty-one. This classic biography of the founder of computer science, reissued on the centenary of his birth with a substantial new preface by the author, is the definitive account of an extraordinary mind and life.

This biography was as understated as Alan was
Revisado: 10-20-15
This biography was as understated as was Alan Turings life. Alan was a hero if ever there was for his work during WW2, and the father of the computer but not many know who he was. The book has some very complex mathematics that I read but only comprehended at a superficial level. This made parts of the book easy to gloss over while giving the impression that Alan was incredibly bright. I enjoyed it but also found it a fairly hard and dry read at times.

Ask a member of the middle class what it takes to become wealthy, and she'll tell you it takes a bold new idea. Tell that to a self-made millionaire, and he'll vehemently disagree. What explains the difference in mind-set between the self-made wealthy and the rest of us? It's not what you think, as journalist and entrepreneur Lewis Schiff convincingly illustrates through groundbreaking research and compelling storytelling.

The lessons are very different to what I expected
Revisado: 04-04-14
All through the book the author punctuates the points with a bit of research they have conducted about the difference between what the middle class think and what self-made millionaires think. This is interesting because I found myself agreeing withe the middle class view (which I am) but I understand I am wrong about many things. The book gently points out you are mistaken and teaches you why and then what to do about it.

A refreshing take on the win-win problem
Revisado: 04-04-14
What did you love best about Getting to Yes?
The alternative options for getting to yes are excellent. They punctuate the theory with timely examples of how to actually use the concept in both big corporate and smaller at-home examples of negotiation situations.

A really interesting insight not buying happiness
Revisado: 02-23-14
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This is a great insight into the mind and life of a guy who has made a lot of money doing what many people hope - selling their business to a big company. I found the insight about how money doesn't buy happiness really valuable and think it's worth hearing and adding to your thinking.
What did you like best about this story?
I enjoyed the honesty about what was happening at each stage for these guys. The openness about making money, risking it all, and being happy no matter which way the deal goes was good to hear.
Have you listened to any of Tony Hsieh’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I haven't heard him speak before. But I do listen to a lot of audio books and his performance was easy, calm, and fluid. Very easy listen.
