Amazing story! Very sad and tragic but captivating the entire time.
Revisado: 03-23-25
This truly was an amazing book and I loved the writing of this author. I was sucked in right from the beginning. It is very sad and tragic. A lot of TW to be prepared for. The only reason I am giving it a 4 star is because the 20+ adult MMC gets falls in love and gets together with the FMC when she was a young teen. Yes, it is set in 9th century Ireland, but it is a fantasy and gives the ick.

Historia
When Finlay Ashowan joins the staff of the King and Queen of Daxaria, he’s an enigma. No one knows where he comes from or how he came to be where he is, which suits Fin just fine. He’s satisfied simply serving as the royal cook, keeping nosy passersby out of his kitchen, and concocting some truly uncanny meals. But Fin’s secret identity doesn’t stay hidden for long. After all, it’s not every day a house witch and his kitten familiar, Kraken, take to meddling in imperial affairs.

Cute but was hard to finish
Revisado: 03-17-25
I think the story was cute and cozy but it felt like it drug on way too long and wasn’t very funny for it being a comedy. Overall it was fine but I don’t have any plans to continue onto the rest of the series.

Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Excellent story telling and kept me captivated from start to finish.
Revisado: 12-01-23
I loved the first book but I was nervous about starting the second with how long it was and people saying it was hard to get through. However, that was not my experience and from beginning to end I was captivated by the story and how well the narrator told it. I love that this series is not overly complicated and is easy to follow. It has many “climax” points that continue to keep you engaged. The very end brought me to tears and I cannot wait for book 3.

Amazing story and characters. This book was a lot darker and harder to get through then the first but worth the read.

Good story but boring and hard to get through at times
Revisado: 10-09-23
I liked the story idea but the love interest could have been a bigger part of the story and the FML wasn’t the best. The story was quick and clean and overall a good one, but definitely could have been better.
