Love Robyn Carr but this one was way too cheesy. Good storyline but Bevs character was so troubled that it would be hard to believe she would attract such a good guy. So cringe worthy that I wanted to stop listening after every single chapter. Pass on this.

I have a hard time believing this is a Robyn Carr novel.
Revisado: 04-25-25
Typically I like Robyn Carr novels, esp the Virgin River series. This is not at all the same level of quality listening that I’ve come accustomed to with her books. The story drags, and drags, and drags. So much repetition in story line. And in my opinion, not much substance. Skip this one!

Horrible Italian accent!
Revisado: 03-13-25
I loved the story which kept me going to the finish. Almost stopped it sooo many times because of the horrible Italian accent the narrator had. Would’ve been so much better if she would have just told the story in her normal voice.

Really good story.
Revisado: 09-17-24
I really loved this story! The narrator did a great job with the female voices but absolutely horrible with the male characters. It was so distracting that I had a hard time focusing on the story.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

I got her fired. Okay, so I’d had a bad day and took it out on a bystander in a pizza shop. But there’s nothing innocent about Ally Morales. She proves that her first day of her new job in my office, after being hired by my mother. So, maybe, her colorful, annoying, inexplicably alluring personality brightens up the magazine’s offices that have felt like a prison for the past year. Maybe, I like that she argues with me in front of the editorial staff. And maybe, my after-hours fantasies are haunted by those brown eyes and that sharp tongue.

I should’ve double checked the narrator! Ugh!
Revisado: 05-16-24
Erin Mallon spoils every book for me. My fault for not checking the narrator. She is so over dramatic that you end up distracted away from the story in irritation. It’s rare I can even finish one of her books.

Historia
If my childhood taught me anything, it was to survive. Now I have a deep-rooted mistrust of people and a wall of steel and ice surrounding my heart. So, when Reed Ryan steps into my life, I know I need to keep him far away. He’s everything I grew up hating. Fighting. Fleeing. Devastatingly handsome, he looks like a drunken regret and has heartbreak written over every inch of his body - literally. He’s the quintessential bad boy...and he’s a cop. But the man is my undoing.

Cringe worthy
Revisado: 03-21-24
I’m really sad for all of you that rated this book 5 stars. This was so poorly written that I had a hard time keeping it going. Broken girl meets nice guy. Why he likes her is beyond comprehension. Every other girl wants him. Typical “No no no” all the way through the book. She’s hasn’t been written as an interesting character in any way. The grandmothers name is Lala which drove me nuts hearing that all through the book too. Pass on this one. So shallow!

In The Best Cook in the World, Rick Bragg finally preserves his heritage by telling the stories that framed his mother's cooking and education, from childhood into old age. Because good food always has a good story.

Historia
Sienna Diaz is everyone's favorite "fat" funny lady. The movie studio executives can't explain it, but her films are out-grossing all the fit and trim headliners and Hollywood's most beautiful elite. The simple truth is, everyone loves plus-sized Sienna. But she has a problem: she can't read maps and her sense of direction is almost as bad as her comedic timing is stellar. Therefore, when Sienna's latest starring role takes her to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, she finds herself continually lost.

Great story, bad female narrator.
Revisado: 04-06-23
I love all of the books in this series. Chris Brinkley is superb!!! Couldn’t have found a better male narrator for this series. Cielo - not my cup of tea. She made Sienna sound very shallow and crude. The type of girl that Jethro would not want to be friendly with.
