Awesome idea, poor execution
Revisado: 04-15-25
I really wanted to like this book but I found myself having to rewind and listen to parts again because everything was so convoluted. The story premiss is so good but the plot got lost in all the story telling. There were almost too many characters and it was hard to follow who was talking and WHO we were as the reader. I love a good mystery but this was so confusing.

Not like other lackey books
Revisado: 02-11-25
This book was a huge disappointment to me
I’ve read 20+ lackey books but I have never been disgusted or disappointed like this one.
There have been elements of s/a and rape in some of her other books but never would I ever have thought she would have the reader SYMPATHIZING with the rapist🥲
For me a character arc” isnt going to make the character redeemable in my eyes after commiting such a sadisitic act. The whole seen was traumatizing just to listen to.
Also the racism towards the girl
I already hate the word gypsy (which i do recognize is a word that hadnt been properly educated on its racist history in the 70s -90s like it has been now)
for him to be our “hero” makes it so hard for me to want to even finish the book
In Mercedes past books with rape those men pay for their crimes and it’s talked about like a grievous and vile act
But in this book your stuck in the mind of the prince and have to listen to him justify his horrible treatment of women
From what I’ve seen on their reviews he thinks this way all the way until he meets oddette and only then does he feel remorseful
And I feel like remorseful is a generous word it was more like
“Oh wow this lady is so hot I don’t ever want to be with anyone else but this hot lady”
Instead of
“Wow I’ve treated women horribly I can’t believe I did that I feel so bad and will never do it again”
He literally orders for his staff to put the body of the deceased woman who killed herself BECAUSE OF HIM hanging on displace with spikes through her chest
Like what the hell mercedes

Written well but equally disturbing
Revisado: 11-10-24
I am so disappointed by the ending of this book. It was well wrtiten but this book is so wrong and I pray it doesn’t get into any women’s hands that is younger than 25. You literally need your frontal love to be developed to read this book because it completely romanticizes grooming and pedophilia the author does a good job making you feel conflicted for the protagonist but my god. She is EIGHT YEARS OLD when they meet. I don’t care how kind he was to her, it’s vile to promote this. Listening to her view points of kell made me sick. I feel like this whole book was just the authors way of justifying huge age gaps in relationships. This book isn’t romantic, it’s not deep and progressive, this book is so dangerous. If a 14 year old read this book and had the unfortunate luck of meeting a man like Kell she would be completely vulnerable and would think “hey if it worked out for wavy why not me?” Vile. Shame on audible for promoting this book and making it free. I had hope halfway through the book when police and her aunt ( WHO IS THE ONLY SANE PERSON IN THE BOOK) got involved but then for the author went out of her way to make sure they ended up together. Even describing police and judges sympathizing with them because they were just “soooo in love” I’ve never been more angry and disgusted with a book. As a victim of SA this book should be burned and never brought back to see the the light of day again

Tink is what made this book
Revisado: 09-28-24
It was narrated really well. Personally not a huge fan of a lot of spice (that’s just me) so I found myself getting bored waiting for the plot to pick up. It was def a little cliche and campy but it was a fun listen. It was a little predictable but it kept me interested ❤️ overall not bad, just .. not my favorite
Tink was hilarious tho

I couldn’t get past the fact she was 16 when they met
Revisado: 03-18-24
Changing the age of consent to 16 made it feel like an excuse 😭 it just felt way too much like grooming I couldn’t even focus on the plot. It was written well enough but I just don’t get why the author couldn’t of made her a college student and older when they met 😭 it’s dangerous because it makes young girls think that if they meet an older man it’s ok because the girl in Rhapsodic did and it “worked out for her”

I definitely liked the first two books better. This one I felt like I was screaming at her the whole time lol I was so mad she wouldn’t just tell her brother what was wrong with Vaughn. But overall was really good, well written; and the ending satisfied me
