I really wanted to like it
Revisado: 07-30-24
I read this book based on all the great reviews. However, I just did not connect with any of the characters. i’m scratching my head wondering what all the hype is about. Also, I’ve never read a book that used the “C” word so much… and that’s the one word I cannot stand!!!

A different perspective
Revisado: 04-14-24
Heartbreaking and redemptive! This story is about an all too common occurrence that took place in Vietnam during the war that America participated in. It has nothing to do with the pros and cons of that war, but the effects upon its citizens and especially young women. I highly recommend this read!

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

Eye Roll
Revisado: 03-21-24
This book actually sounded interesting and it got really good reviews; however, not one single character in the story is likable! Not one!!! And why does the author think that graphic lesbian love scenes are something people want to read or listen to? Why isn’t this labeled LGBT?

Historia
Every day Iona, a larger-than-life magazine advice columnist, travels the ten stops from Hampton Court to Waterloo Station by train, accompanied by her dog, Lulu. Every day she sees the same people, whom she knows only by nickname: Impossibly-Pretty-Constant-Reader and Terribly-Lonely-Teenager. Of course, they never speak. Seasoned commuters never do. Then one morning, the man she calls Smart-But-Sexist-Manspreader chokes on a grape right in front of her. He’d have died were it not for the timely intervention of Sanjay, a nurse, who gives him the Heimlich maneuver.

Unexpected!
Revisado: 11-10-23
This is a story of a 57-year old lesbian and her friends on the train. Quirky characters and humorous. Nowhere in the description does it say LGBT when, in fact, it is. I like to be informed of what I’m paying for.

Revisado: 10-29-23
I have no words for the injustice done to the Osage Indians. It wasn’t that the Osage were stupid, what did them in was ignorance and white men wielding power from the highest levels of government over them. They had no way to fight it. What a travesty!!!
