Super fun mystery novel
Revisado: 09-21-22
This is a spectacularly fun mystery novel. Most importantly, I was able to guess the killer before the reveal! I thought the clues were in there to do it, but it was still subtle. Robin goes undercover multiple times, the author pokes fun at hypocritical marxists as well as entitled aristocrats throughout, and the protagonists continue in their well-drawn will-they-won't-they!

Historia
When Robin Ellacott opens an unexpected delivery, she is horrified to discover that it contains a woman's severed leg. Her boss, private detective Cormoran Strike, is less surprised but just as alarmed. He suspects that four people from his past could be responsible - and any one of them is capable of sustained and unspeakable brutality. With the police focusing on the one suspect Strike has essentially ruled out, he and Robin take matters into their own hands and delve into the dark and twisted worlds of the other three men.

Dark and exciting mystery
Revisado: 09-21-22
I highly recommend this book. My friend read it with me and she guessed the killer correctly..! So it is possible to read carefully and solve the crime alongside the heroes. The relationship between Robin and Strike strengthens in this book and I really loved that aspect too. This is the darkest novel in the series so, if you have a weak stomach, I recommend just using the fast forward button. I did that and I still loved it.

Historia
When novelist Owen Quine goes missing, his wife calls in private detective Cormoran Strike. At first, Mrs. Quine just thinks her husband has gone off by himself for a few days - as he has done before - and she wants Strike to find him and bring him home. But as Strike investigates, he discovers that Quine's disappearance is no coincidence. The novelist has just completed a manuscript featuring poisonous pen-portraits of almost everyone he knows. If the novel were published, it would ruin lives - meaning that almost everyone in his life would have motives to silence him.

Great mystery!
Revisado: 09-21-22
I highly recommend this novel. As Strike and Robin solve a new case it takes them through the book publishing industry. It's very fun to read because you can hear the author (JK Rowling) poke fun at her own industry! All the characters have opinions about book publishing and you can practically see her wink and smile as she pokes fun. And the mystery is great fun on top of it all.

I highly recommend the Strike series and especially this book. The protagonists are engaging and the mystery was as exciting as ever. Galbraith left lots of clues in there for us! Also, the narrator gives his best performance yet.

Historia
Human beings were created to reflect the image of God - but only to a limited extent. Although we share important attributes with God (love, mercy, compassion, etc.), there are other qualities that only God possesses, such as unlimited power, knowledge, and authority. At the root of all sin is our rebellious desire to be like God in such ways - a desire that first manifested itself in the Garden of Eden. In None Like Him, Jen Wilkin leads us on a journey to discover 10 ways God is different from us - and why that's a good thing.

One of the most important reads for spiritual growth!
Revisado: 10-21-20
Spiritual formation should begin with looking at our maker lest we get discouraged by looking at ourselves. I have made this mistake millions of times but this book cast my eyes toward God in a beautiful, concise way. I plan to read and re-read it to set my eyes where they should be!

Historia
At a distance of 20 centuries, the figure of Jesus of Nazareth can seem impossibly obscure - indeed, some skeptics even question whether he existed. And yet we have an eyewitness account of his life, death, and resurrection from one of his closest companions, the sherman Simon Bar-Jonah, better known as the Apostle Peter. Peter's disciple Mark wrote down the apostle's account of the life of Jesus as he told it to the first Christians in Rome. The vivid, detailed, unadorned prose of the Gospel of Mark conveys the unmistakable immediacy of a firsthand account.

Fukuyama examines the effects of corruption on governance, and why some societies have been successful at rooting it out. He explores the different legacies of colonialism in Latin America, Africa, and Asia, and offers a clear-eyed account of why some regions have thrived and developed more quickly than others. And he boldly reckons with the future of democracy in the face of a rising global middle class and entrenched political paralysis in the West.

A brilliant and utterly original thinker, Andrew Solomon's journey began from his experience of being the gay child of straight parents. He wondered how other families accommodate children who have a variety of differences: families of people who are deaf, who are dwarfs, who have Down syndrome, who have autism, who have schizophrenia, who have multiple severe disabilities, who are prodigies, who commit crimes, who are transgender.

ONE OF MY TOP 5 FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME
Revisado: 08-19-13
If every person in America read this book thoughtfully, we would see far reaching positive repercussions. Solomon delves into hundreds of lives and describes how they manage the lot they were given. He knew each family personally for years as he compiled the book. It is a long book, but the quickest way to appreciate the human experience, central to which is parenting.
