Historia
As Dave Barry turns 70 - not happily - he realizes that his dog, Lucy, is dealing with old age far better than he is. She has more friends, fewer worries, and way more fun. So Dave decides to figure out how Lucy manages to stay so happy, to see if he can make his own life happier by doing the things she does (except for drinking from the toilet). He reconnects with old friends and tries to make new ones - turns out to be a struggle, because Lucy likes people a lot more than he does.

What a beautiful homage to Lucy. I’ve always enjoyed your humor. I hope that Sophie enjoyed Duke, and had been happy and healthy ever since your book was published. Thanks for sharing,

Historia
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends.

Where O Where Has Emily Gone
Revisado: 05-10-23
I was so excited there was a new Emily Henry to brighten my days. But this wasn’t my happy place. The beginning held promise. . . . .
. . . . The end thankfully arrived. But oh, the middle. I thought it would never stop. I longed for more meat on the bones.
And I know Julia Whelen is a sacred, most beloved narrator. And for the most part I also love her, and am always happy to see her name on books I purchase. However, I have to admit that I cringe at her male voice. The male characters have to be pretty strong for me to eventually overlook her male voicing. In this book Winn just never became strong enough.
Having said all this, I will look forward to the next Emily Henry book.

Historia
William Waters grew up in a house silenced by tragedy, where his parents could hardly bear to look at him, much less love him—so when he meets the spirited and ambitious Julia Padavano in his freshman year of college, it’s as if the world has lit up around him. With Julia comes her family, as she and her three sisters are inseparable: Sylvie, the family’s dreamer, is happiest with her nose in a book; Cecelia is a free-spirited artist; and Emeline patiently takes care of them all.

What a Wonderful Look Into a Family
Revisado: 03-22-23
This was my first Napolitano novel, and was an honest view into a middle class family in Chicago. It is a family of sisters with growing pains, intricacies, complications, and love, from the 70s through 2000. I loved every character, with each one written with such care and reality, As I listened, I knew I was not going to want this book to end. And I was right,
The narrator, Maura Tierny, was perfect. After one chapter, I forgot the narrator. I hope that she will do more narrations, because she a wonderfully modulated voice.
I am positive this will not be my last Napolitano novel.

Great Stories
Revisado: 11-05-22
Kelly Ripa has a very satisfying delivery of every story she tells. And her stories are well-worth the telling. I thank her for the laughter, that at times brought me to tears—good tears. My hope is that she keeps journaling the stories so we can look forward to Volume 2.

A Need for Something Light
Revisado: 09-13-22
Prior to this book was one that was serious, required concentration, and long. My next book needed to grab me immediately and fly like the proverbial page turner. This one fit the bill. I loved it. It kept me guessing, and that was all I needed.

On her 120-acre homestead high in the Colorado Rockies, beloved writer Pam Houston learns what it means to care for a piece of land and the creatures on it. Elk calves and bluebirds mark the changing seasons, winter temperatures drop to 35 below, and lightning sparks a 110,000-acre wildfire, threatening her century-old barn and all its inhabitants. Through her travels from the Gulf of Mexico to Alaska, she explores what ties her to the Earth, the ranch most of all.

First, Not Last
Revisado: 09-04-22
Pam Houston’s love of the Earth caused my heart to whoosh at the end of her book. A whoosh is that softly quick exhalation of breath you make where you know in the very center of your chest that you have just witnessed something so authentic, that you know you are better for having done so. This was my first book by Pam Houston. But I am blessed there will be more.

Spine, Meet Chills
Revisado: 08-22-22
This book was much more compelling than I expected, I’ve always enjoyed Ms. Penny’s mysteries, but the added expertise from Ms. Clinton made this one go from simmer to a boil. Having said that, I realize her additions are what makes it so real. And that is what makes it so frightening.

Historia
The Girl of Sugar Beach is the most watched documentary in television history - a riveting, true-life mystery that unfolds over 12 weeks and centers on a fascinating question: Did Grace Sebold murder her boyfriend, Julian, while on a Spring Break vacation, or is she a victim of circumstance and poor police work? Grace has spent the last 10 years in a St. Lucian prison, and reaches out to filmmaker Sidney Ryan in a last, desperate attempt to prove her innocence. As Sidney begins researching, she uncovers issues that were all overlooked during the original investigation.

Time well spent…until the final ten seconds
Revisado: 08-01-22
The other Charlie Donlea books to which I have listened have been fun rides. This one took a screeching, unbelievable tragic halt at the end—one I absolutely don’t believe. And that is the one thing he was right about. I’m just sorry I can’t get back the 10 hours and 31 minutes of my life that I gave to it.
