Historia
Seven years ago the Atargatis set off on a voyage to the Mariana Trench to film a mockumentary bringing to life ancient sea creatures of legend. It was lost at sea with all hands. Some have called it a hoax; others have called it a tragedy. Now a new crew has been assembled. But this time they're not out to entertain. Some seek to validate their life's work. Some seek the greatest hunt of all. Some seek the truth. But for the ambitious young scientist Victoria Stewart, this is a voyage to uncover the fate of the sister she lost.

Creative and compelling
Revisado: 07-19-22
The blend of imagination, mythology, legend and science makes this one of the best SFF books I have listened to. The narrator's performance is an amazing complement to an outstanding story.

Historia
Author A.J. Jacobs discovers that his coffee - and every other item in our lives - would not be possible without hundreds of people we usually take for granted: farmers, chemists, artists, presidents, truckers, mechanics, biologists, miners, smugglers, and goatherds. By thanking these people face-to-face, Jacobs finds some much-needed brightness in his life. Gratitude does not come naturally to Jacobs, but he sets off on the journey on a dare from his son. And by the end, it’s clear to him that scientific research on gratitude is true. Gratitude’s benefits are legion.

Thankful for this book
Revisado: 11-23-21
At a time when our lives are dominated by COVID-19 and a bitterly divided society, this deep (and wide) reflection on gratitude is a calming breeze offering relief and reminding us that we are all better than our problems. Yhank you A.J. Jacobs!

Historia
Tippy the triceratops was once a little girl's imaginary friend, a dinosaur detective who could help her make sense of the world. But when her father died, Tippy fell into the Stillreal, the underbelly of the Imagination, where discarded ideas go when they're too real to disappear. Now, he passes time doing detective work for other unwanted ideas - until Tippy runs into The Man in the Coat, a nightmare monster who can do the impossible: kill an idea permanently. Now Tippy must overcome his own trauma and solve the case, before there's nothing left but imaginary corpses.

Historia
Tamsyn Muir’s Gideon the Ninth unveils a solar system of swordplay, cut-throat politics, and lesbian necromancers. Her characters leap out of the audio, as skillfully animated as arcane revenants. The result is a heart-pounding epic science fantasy. Brought up by unfriendly, ossifying nuns, ancient retainers, and countless skeletons, Gideon is ready to abandon a life of servitude and an afterlife as a reanimated corpse.

Engaging through to the end
Revisado: 03-14-20
Even though it took me 5-7 chapters to get thoroughly hooked, once I was grabbed by the story, I was thoroughly engaged to the end. I love the mystery aspect of the story. The necromancy lore is fascinating and unique. I loved it.
The narrator was phenomenal!

Just like its predecessor, The Clockwork Boys, The Wonder Engine is a delightful story; and I continue to love the narrator's gnoll voices

This was very difficult to listen to because it is so well-written. The staccato rhythm of the writing forces you to listen even when you don't want to.

Historia
The Royal Society of Unnatural Philosophers, one of the most respected organizations throughout all of England, has long been tasked with maintaining magic within His Majesty's lands. But lately the once proper institute has fallen into disgrace, naming an altogether unsuitable gentleman - a freed slave who doesn't even have a familiar - as their Sorcerer Royal and allowing England's once profuse stores of magic to slowly bleed dry. At least they haven't stooped so low as to allow women to practice....

Intriguingly written and performed
Revisado: 10-20-15
A unique tale that is intriguingly written and performed. Why do we have to have a minimum of 20 words for a review on Audible? I have voted submitted several reviews because of it.
