The clever plot and well developed characters in this book deserved a human narrator. For example, one who was capable of proper inflection, would not make inappropriate pauses, or choose the wrong pronunciation where a human would know by context which way to say a word like “read,” and who would not say “minus” at a hyphen.

A Wise & Wonderful Gift to A Beleaguered World

I will die grateful to Julie Francella for calling my attention to this masterfully written book. Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass weaves together “Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.” The result is more like a gorgeous tapestry than a braid, and a celebration of “ecological consciousness.” Beyond the abundance of these gracious gifts, is her gorgeous narration. Listening to her tell the stories is an absolute joy.

A Story Beloved by Five Generations

This charming family entertained my grandmother, my mother, me & my siblings, my nieces & nephews, and now, their children. It’s a wonderful story, brought to life by a splendid narrator. What luck to have found it on Audible!

Reality . . . Hard To Swallow

Holly’s development has been delightful to follow. Pathetic members of a death cult, triggered by the true parts, vomited vile reviews. Ignore them as completely as those folks ignore reality. Mr. King’s fans will enjoy this tale.

Everything I’ve come to expect from Joy Ellis; well developed characters caught up in mysterious circumstances, twists and turns, and a resolution that simultaneously satisfies, and leaves you wanting more time with these people.

A Superb Introduction

As far as it goes, this is a first rate project. I’m both intrigued by the possibilities of where the story might go, and annoyed that it’s just a teaser.
With no hint at how long it could continue to spin out before a final season, I find myself hoping the series resolution will be satisfying. Having been burned by other series (e.g., The X-Files and Lost), I fear disappointment. I want more. I hate to wait. I abhor disrespectful endings. I’m hoping that this tale will deliver an ending as enjoyable as the journey.

Excellent character development, compelling story, and brilliant narration. This book in the Joy Ellis series, once again, masterfully delivers a fully engaging detective team. As her characters work the twists and turns of their cases you feel as invested in them as you might be with actual people.

Creepy Concept

I’m glad I gave Dean Koontz another chance. I really enjoyed his earlier efforts, but had become bored by his formulaic approach, and remarkably similar main characters. I still recognize many of the old familiar elements, but these characters felt fresh, and the story was compelling. I’m pleased that the end seems to imply that we haven’t seen the last of Jane.
