I’m new to this author, well this is my third book but it’s been 3 books in less than two months and typically it’s one novel per month for me. This one in particular kept my attention so much I found myself looking for opportunities to drive or do something where I could pop my headphones in and just listen.

The storyline in this book is fantastic. Not predictable, not sappy, not over the top. Real people, real issues, that are complex and multi-dimensional, well maybe everyone except shallow “Bradley” haha but no spoilers…Seriously though, the author did an excellent job developing the characters and that was done for quite a bit of the roles. At point, I wasn’t sure who I liked more! Also there were some truly really funny scenes. I found myself LOL’ing at a couple points and I’m not used to that with this genre of book.

Like the other two books after this (Smith family in the Cape), I’m not crazy about the voice of the main narrator but almost 30 hours in and I’ve gotten over it, so clearly nothing to make me stop listening.

I appreciate the authenticity of her story. I’m inspired but also left with practical tools that I can use as a mid-career almost, senior leadership female of color.

I’m now a Terese Plummer junkie but also a romance girl at heart. I’ve gone through a number of series and was looking for a new one. As a person of faith, I was pleasantly surprised as I made my way through Hope Harbor. I love the dimensions of the characters, their real life experiences and process to finding peace and healing. It’s of course still the traditional hurt guy, new to town finds other hurt woman and they connect but the additional pieces, particularly Anna and her pain and how she finds healing was particularly great part of the big story. I’m also grateful that I didn’t have to skip an entire chapter of a very descriptive sex scene as I’ve learned to do with some other series that I’ve enjoyed.
