Historia
The award-winning political theorist Yoram Hazony argues that the best hope for Western democracy is a return to the empiricist, religious, and nationalist traditions of America and Britain—the conservative traditions that brought greatness to the English-speaking nations and became the model for national freedom for the entire world. Conservatism: A Rediscovery explains how Anglo-American conservatism became a distinctive alternative to divine-right monarchy, Puritan theocracy, and liberal revolution.

One of the most important books I have ever read
Revisado: 08-25-22
From my somewhat limited library on the topic of conservatism I would venture to say this is one of the most important books of conservative thought in decades! I am indebted to Dr Hazony for the clarity and depth of thought he has pushed me to on this topic.
I will be pondering Honor and it’s role for years to come

The performance was outstanding
Revisado: 02-18-21
I knew the basics of the story but had never read it before. I have to say that this is one of the finest narrations I have ever heard. The deftness of Richard Armitage to tradition between the voices and personalities of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde in the final letter is outstanding!

A must read
Revisado: 02-10-21
This book is a must read for Christians today. As a lay pastor and construction worker the topics and historical analysis are both informative and instructive as I navigate a host of sentiments and assumptions I deal with on a daily basis in both my spheres of work, both personally and with others. As a father of young children, the principles layer out will be helpful for me as I seek to minimize the effects of the imbibed cultural milieu, and raise strong, rooted children who understand not just what the believe but how and why they believe it.

Kirk defines "the conservative mind" by examining such brilliant men as Edmund Burke, James Fenimore Cooper, Alexis de Tocqueville, John Quincy Adams, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Benjamin Disraeli, Cardinal Newman, George Santayana, and finally, T.S. Eliot. Vigorously written, the book represents conservatism as an ideology born of sound intellectual traditions.

Very good, although it was too deep to follow in-depth while working
Revisado: 01-23-21
I listen to a lot of books while I work my construction job and I thought this was excellent. It was difficult to follow while working do to the depth of material but definitely worth the read. I plan to get a hard copy to revisit and make notes.

Marxism is a term that many people freely use, but few seem to grasp its implications. Sowell's book is the antidote to this problem. He writes in a fluid and easy-to-follow manner, leading the listener through the Marxian scheme of ideas. Along the way, he shatters some existing interpretations of Marx-interpretations that have developed through repetition rather than through scholarship.

Need a physical copy
Revisado: 08-26-20
Dr Sowell fairly and carefully looks at the philosophy and economic theories of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. I listen to books while working construction and this is one that I will have to get a physical copy of as it was more technical at times than I could follow as well as I like while working. Definitely worth the read!
