Thought-provoking, touching, uplifting vignettes from the life of 'Abdu'l-Baha
Revisado: 09-14-24
I was looking for something both gentle and meaningful to listen to while I did my morning stretches. This podcast was perfect. As a life-long Baha'i, I was familiar with most (though not all) of these stories, but they all touched my heart and helped me focus on the many spiritual principles reflected in these vignettes. The prayers & quotations sung by the young child, which were at the end of each episode, were so sweet.

Historia
July 1962. Following in the tradition of Indigenous workers from Nova Scotia, a Mi’kmaq family arrives in Maine to pick blueberries for the summer. Weeks later, four-year-old Ruthie, the family’s youngest child, vanishes. She is last seen by her six-year-old brother, Joe, sitting on a favorite rock at the edge of a berry field. Joe will remain distraught by his sister’s disappearance for years to come.

A story of trauma, resilience and family
Revisado: 05-18-24
"The Berry Pickers" by Amanda Peters is a powerful novel of an Indigenous family whose child is stolen (alas, not an uncommon narrative in real life, in its many variations), written by an Indigenous author and read by Indigenous actors (I especially appreciated that the story, from creation to narration, was told with Indigenous voices).
