Leader Attributes… NOT a How-To Book

It’s ok, but not great. I read it as “HOW TO lead when..” but it’s more like “HOW to lead..” Meaning it’s about how you should go about trying to live/lead, the attributes you should have. But if you’re having difficulty creating change where you are and want a blueprint to breaking through and getting people to follow your influence then I don’t think this book will be very helpful. It’s an entry-level intro to leadership book, not one for people who are already a self-leader but are having difficulty getting influence with others.

I was bored with this and had to force myself to finish it. A few times I thought oh, that’s a good idea. But they were few and far between. This book was entirely story telling, giving tons of examples of things his clients did. If you want to learn what other authors and companies did, great. But if you’re like me, you’re already an author, already a business owner, and already understand the basics. If you want step-by-step action steps I didn’t get that from this book. I thought it was only 3 hours so it must not be full of fluff stories or constant brags about what HIS clients did, all the details about THEIR businesses, and how much money THEY made. Nope, it still did that. One main premise of his philosophy is that when you wrote your book the whole point is not to make a great book. It’s simply a sales tool to become seen as a reputable leader for your brand/business. That’s exactly what this book is too.

Not as good as I had hoped for

As an experienced pastor and deliverance minister myself I had hoped this would’ve been much better. I like parts of his main premise that the human soul has compartments where demons can inhabit. I’ve been teaching this for 8 years. But I disagree that many of these compartments are physical parts of the body. Much of this book is telling demons to get out of actual body parts. This is a basic, simpler approach to deliverance, not a way to handle tougher cases. Much of this book is decreeing and declaring things to happen so if you understand how word of faith is a false belief system you will be very disappointed with many of these ideas and “prayers.” Also, though many Bible verses are used SO SO many of them are taken out of context. Apparently Alexander thinks it’s biblical as long as you quote a Bible verse, regardless of how irrelevant it is. It made my cringe often to see so many Bible verses support these ideas get butchered. I still accept him as a brother in Christ, and wanted to give this at least a 3 star rating because it does help bring deliverance to the church, but there’s way too many problematic things in this book to recommend it to anyone. God bless.

Great Book, Awful Narrator

This narrator doesn’t know how to correctly pronounce so much of this book it’s annoying. But if you look past that and know what Rev. Bob wrote then it is still a value to those who find the audiobooks much more convenient. If you already read paperback books too and enjoy that format then I’d just skip and get the paperback.

Submitted at online store at MPoweredChristian.org

I've read ‘The Empowered Christian Road Map’ (TECRM) by Brian S. Holmes of MPowered Christian ministry is a work of art. You’ll tell from the very beginning the author has put a lot of thought & time into this versatile resource. It’s very well laid out and can be used as needed and not as a whole. The thought-provoking questions, evaluations, etc. are invaluable tools for personal use or even for study groups. Yes there’s a lot packed on these pages but I would consider this work an invaluable resource. As a deliverance minister, I often get asked the question about post-deliverance handling of the client -meaning how is the client being guided in the right direction to keep their deliverance. Well to me I can suggest that a client get ‘plugged into’ a church but I can’t guarantee that every church is biblically based with a solid foundation (as much as I hate to say that). And then there are those that won’t/can’t go to a church for whatever reason (e.g. too far, etc.). But the good thing is that the TECRM will work with various people’s circumstances as it’s very flexible. The TECRM gives a solid and I mean solid foundation for the new believer and the quite experienced believer alike. It’s a book (a work of art) that I can honestly suggest to my clients (or even use for myself) knowing it’s is solidly grounded in Scripture. I’m impressed by the author’s ability to tackle topics some may feel uncomfortable about with a gentle firmness, without condemnation, and in a way to give inspiration/hope. Truth is presented unapologetically and still positively in a way Yeshua / Jesus Himself would be proud of. Even though this resource is very ambitious in all of the topics that it covers, it does it well. I’ve once heard it said that a person really knows a topic if they can explain it very simply – and the author can do this. And considering theology, apologetics, discipleship training, personal growth and life direction are being covered – that’s quite a feat in my opinion. The author says a lot with minimal words relatively speaking. There were many statements made that even as stand-alone sentences one could ‘chew’ on for a while. The author has a knack for stating them very simply without the reader getting mental exhaustion or feeling like they need a college degree to understand. All of this is done using the analogy of a car and being on a trip to help the reader understand in simple terms . . . after all this is a roadmap. Even topics such as spiritual gifts and deliverance / exorcisms are discussed in a simple way for those that are unfamiliar with those biblical concepts – of how ‘doors’ are opened to the enemy to oppress us. Additionally, even ‘false’ religions are discussed and what makes them false. But the good news is that the author presents every challenge with an answer or a direction at least. It’s not always what we believe but it’s also do we believe enough as the Bible instructs. But whether you are familiar with the Bible or even if you’re not, this book has the information you need. It shows you the many paths that lead to help you become more like Yeshua / Jesus and overcome the challenges that you face in a way that makes sense. Now admittedly, I am of the Hebrew Roots persuasion so I may differ in some aspects of my theology but I also understand Hebrew Roots may not be for everybody. I still appreciate those that want to live the Bible as the Ruach haKodesh / Holy Spirit leads them (Romans 14:4). I strongly suggest that you partner with MPowered Christian Ministry and/or get this resource for yourself, your friends, your church, your study group or even for your family if one doesn’t feel like they can do this themselves as good. If you feel you are stagnant in your spiritual ‘walk’ OR if you are unsure on what’s the next step then this book is for you. After all the more we are like Yeshua / Jesus, the more we will be blessed to bless others and the more joy we’ll have.

A therapists guide to surviving with extreme introversion

...and how to deal with introversion-related anxieties... As an Empowerment Life Coach who leans introverted I was hoping to learn how to maximize these qualities for myself and my clients. But The word “Advantage” in the title is misguided. This is not a book that teaches all of the unique attributes of introversion and how to embrace and maximize those attributes. It is not a self improvement guide for already empowered and mentally and emotionally healthy people. It’s more for people struggling with anxieties related to being an introvert. Though she says often that there’s nothing wrong with being an introvert throughout the book she emphasizes how much introverts have less overall energy, are more shy, are more risk averse, and are often nervous, quiet, fearful, intimidated and very slow to think or act or make decisions. She paints the picture of introverts as someone constantly needing to be sheltered and isolated so they can think about their thoughts and feelings in order to even cope with them. To give you an example in the final chapter she gives a list of things like remember to carry snacks with you so your energy doesn’t go down and wear sunscreen because introverts often have fair skin. Really? Are introverts so fragile that they need this kind of hand holding? These are not aspects of introversion- at least not people with just 51-60% introversion. She describes the introvert with huge generalizations like this as though most reading the book are like 80-100% introverted in which case I could see these types of anxieties forming. I did like the parts of the book that talked about the brain and the different energy pathways that are different between extroverts and introverts. I think this book has value even though a good portion of it wasn’t useful to me and I found annoying and condescending. For extreme introverts looking for more of a “survival guide” in an extroverted world and practical advice from a therapist for how to live day by day it’s a good buy.

Helpful to outline 100 or so different parts of building, managing, or organizing a business. Is not the end-all, be-all of management information but a summary of key parts. Will be a good foundational tool to survey all the main parts, and then use as a reference for remembering which parts to have additional study in. Not entirely exciting but you wouldn’t expect so in an MBA course.

Scholarly work, not as good as Unseen Realm

Scholarly work, not as easy to follow or stay engaged in the audiobook format. Was a bit boring given the topic in my opinion. Does draw quite a bit (maybe 25%?) from second Temple period, intertestamental, and apocryphal sources. These are interesting but I would rather hang my hat on the Biblical witness. I do like how they were broken up chronologically, so I know what part comes from what, and how much weight to give it. I just finished a different book that put both the Bible and all these other sources side by side interspersing them within a single narration. No! I would prefer that, rather than looking at the Old Testament, then the Intertestamental Period, then the New Testament, that it was laid out like a systematic angelology. The order it was given to us in history is not important to me, so learning it that was also an “eh” factor. First time studying this topic at this level. I think he does provide a good overview of different opinions on different things. Does not read at all like a novel or really capture the exciting aspects of angels though. Ok book, but I recommend Unseen Realm over this one if you haven’t read it. I also give kudos to the reader. He was a ninja when it came to accurately pronouncing the Hebrew and Greek! I don’t think anyone I’ve heard has done as good a job. The only thing was that he didn’t really make the text come “alive” but then again that may have just been the scholarly format of the book responsible for that.

Individual Christians need to know this information. And churches should be at least knowledgeable about it, and making their church aware of it, and doing their pastoral duty to set their people free, if not actually teaching it publicly to their congregation. I’m also a graduate of his International School of Exorcism and recommend that. My ministry, MPowered Deliverance is a local DWJD chapter near Tampa, FL. Only complaint is the terrible narration. I don’t know how this man could even be considered a professional that does this for a living! Seriously the guy can’t pronounce anything correctly. It’s like someone with a 8th grade education trying to read from a college seniors textbook. He stumbled and mumbled over 50+ words. It’s quite distracting, the consolation is that his voice is pleasant and you can still follow along fine if you know the words he is failing to pronounce correctly.

This book is a must listen! If you’re a born again Christian it will help you to have full freedom and victory in Christ! If you’re Mormon or Jehovah’s Witness or a member of a clandestine organization like the Masonic Lodge it will help you find deliverance.

I already have a print version of this book but wanted a refresher. I’m an active affiliate with Pastor Larson’s DWJD teams and I deal with demons regularly.

This book is a vital resource teaching you not only the biblical basis for the legitimacy of curses, and the modern effects that they have on people and society, but also the way to detect, identify, and renounce them in the name and authority of Jesus!

Visit my ministry at MPowered Christian Ministries for services and products to help individuals and churches to use this kind of information to make disciples and create revival in their communities.

May God bless you and make every curse be broken in Jesus’s name! -Pastor Brian Holmes
