Enjoyed the read. Held my interest. Good character development. Appreciated the level of adversity the lead character had to address and how she played it.

RomCom

For people in long term deep friendships and relatively new romantic relationships this a lovely a relevant study for consideration and reflection.
I loved it, but others in my book club did not. They like murder mysteries, with twists and turns. This novel is not that. It is much more subtle and humane.

interesting premiss
Revisado: 03-23-25
It was too far long. Repeating and analyzing the same day multiple times was overkill.

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

Autobiographical Sketch by Madam Secretary
Revisado: 12-28-22
Interesting account of an immigrant woman who served as our Secretary of State. Appreciated that she personally voiced the reading. She shared a wide range of experiences from the mundane, personal, her varied activities and endeavors, to the issues and political constraints as a Secretary of State. She gives historical references and insights into world figures into the Trump era. Though understated in delivery She led a fascinating life meeting important political leaders over the decades. Appreciated learning about her background, education. her father's importance.

Good, detailed account of the Mafia in Cleveland
Revisado: 12-23-22
Appreciated the history and development of the mafia activities and characters in Cleveland. I like non-fiction and the book satisfied domecof my curiosity. I am a 3rd generation Cleveland native.
I had an interest in the story as my grandfather was a detective on the Cleveland police force in th red c30' to the 52. My mother and her brother were given police protection because of the work their father did.
Loved how the book tied the Cleveland mafia to other cities, the unions, and various enterprises. Interestingly, I worked for a member if the Milkwaukee Balestrari family in the early 70's at their restaurants when I was just 21. I had heard they were tied to the mafia. but never saw any of that activity.
