There is so much superfluous filler in this book it’s frustrating. I would say 70% of the book discusses food, in particular, sweets. The plot is thin and easily guessed. Honestly, I keep reading the series for Spider the Cat. Hollis McCarthy does do an excellent job narrating.

This was fantastic! The storyline was fantastic. The characters were well-developed and interesting. I cannot believe how fabulous the narrator is! She can do every accent from Scots English, to Hispanic, to New Jersey. And characters all sound quite different! She is so good at changing her voice, I actually looked to see if there was a second narrator. The author excels at pacing and keeps you guessing. This is an excellent listen. 10/10.

I’ve managed to stick with this series, and now I’m glad I did. The storyline has definitely improved with this book. The Narrator still can’t pronounce Samhain, but the storyline is very well done and makes up for the narration.
