Depends on your perspective

If you listen to this audio book with the mindset that it is a satirical jab at formulaic romantic suspense novels, then you may enjoy the farce (and I’d have to give it 4 stars). If however, you attempt to take it at face value, you’ll be sadly disappointed.
Mama always said that nothing’s free. In that vein, this free audio book cost an hour of my life that might have been better used by taking a nap.

Amber had married her boss for all the right reasons, no passion to break her heart, no love to risk and lose. She never imagined she'd be the one demanding more, yearning to feel things she vowed she would never risk again.

It is what it is
Revisado: 01-23-06
This is a pleasant little story and the reader is unobtrusive, but some of the bedroom language just made me roll my eyes and do a mental edit to something less laughable. Perhaps the style of the passionate dialog is simply dated; thankfully, the rest of the story holds up. The hero is calm and sedate, but he's not a boring pushover; his inner strength is profound and he doesn't require outward displays to validate himself. The heroine is a wounded dove, but the hero doesn’t try to “fix” her. Instead, he exercises patience and restraint until she’s ready to conquer the self-delusions formed in her past. This isn’t great literature, but it’s an amusing diversion, and a nice way to cleanse the palette from heavy doses of modern bad boy alpha males.

Delightfully Demented
Revisado: 12-21-04
Christopher Moore's esoteric recipe for a terribly twisted tale of hysterical holiday horror: Add equal parts of The Gift of the Magi, The Monkey's Paw, Bad Santa, Xena Warrior Princess, and Postcards From the Edge; stir in a bit of concentrated pot smoke and sprinkle with brain-sucking zombies. Remove mixture from all anti-psychotic drug therapy for one month, cover with a very stupid, though well-intentioned angel, and simmer until you actually get a heart-warming ending.
