This was an good 'Part 2' for the Campo Brothers. Enjoyed having so many of the previous Ghost Walkers joining in the story and seeing the progression of Wyatt's girls. What I missed, though, was a narrator that could handle the variety of accents of the bayou and Appalachia that was such a part of the story. When you can't be sure if it's Nonny or Rubin talking, that really takes a lot out of the enjoyment. The narrator has a clear, strong, voice but not with the range of voices that Tom Stechschulte or Jim Frangione provided. Their voices made it easy to keep track of who was talking. This narrator did not. Too much of the same.

Love this new story from Nora Roberts. I'm really enjoying the narrator and her great collection of voices.

Helen MacInnes was my first mystery author. My mom felt her books were acceptable for a 12-year-old, but we talked about it after each book. I hope they're going to release the entire set, I just love these books. The narrator was excellent. She had a number of characters to speak for and I very much appreciated that, even though the main characters were English-born, she didn't give them accents too strong for American ears to understand. Ditto for the German characters. I've had books where they stayed true to the character being English (or Irish, or German, etc.) and used accents too strong to easily understand. This disrupts the flow of the story if you have to stop and try to piece together what you just heard. Very enjoyable and I've already gotten the second book, and am looking forward to the rest as they come out. Thank you.

Really enjoyed this story. The twists and turns of the cases interweaving, and a lot of info about the Urban Wars. Susan Ericksen always does a great job, but really excelled this time. Great entertainment.

While Frangione gets points for consistency, it was off-putting his consistent mispronunciation of Eli, a name that showed up frequently. Really threw me out of the story each time. I love this guy's voice, so it was unfortunate. 2020 - re-listening for the upcoming book and I have to agree with the others, The sex is getting gratuitous. The story has plenty of heft and history by itself.

What made the experience of listening to Power Game the most enjoyable?

Whatever happened that ended up with Jim Frangione, excellent narrator for Feehan's Dark series, replace Tom Stechschulte as Ghostwalker narrator was ill-thought out. Especially with this book happening in the same geographic area and the previous Viper and Spider books, the changes in voices was very jarring. Please bring Tom back!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Books for this series get better and better.

Would you consider the audio edition of The Paid Companion to be better than the print version?

In some ways. The novel idea of having a male reader was perfect for this story. He gave the Earl's sarcasm perfect pitch and was oh, so funny.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Arthur, Earl of St. Merryn. He, unlike many of his male contemporaries, was willing to acknowledge women had brains. At that time, that kind of thinking was unheard of.

What about Michael Page’s performance did you like?

He was obviously having a great time with the characters. He seemed to have read the story ahead of time (many sound like it was the first time they'd seen the book) and had the characters firmly in his head.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, and I'd started it in late afternoon. It was torture shutting down and going to bed at 2am, and I started listening again as soon as I woke up.

Any additional comments?

Would love to have Michael Page read more of Amanda Quick!
