Heroine jaded

I didn’t care for the heroine she was pretty negative and self centered. Wasn’t really a feel good story to me.

Ending left a lot to be desired

The Duke gets violent at the end and drags the wife towards the house, saying cruel things all along, with the intent to force her to sleep with him. She begs him for forgiveness for lying almost as if she felt she deserved the rough handling. He doesn’t force himself on her in the end but he never apologizes for his bad behavior.

I enjoyed listening to this one much more than the silver dollar Duke. It had a more positive vibe. Only complaint is her eye color was described differently throughout the book. We’re they green, honey or brown???

In addition to the mystery, this one had a good amount of romance in it. More romance than in the other books in my opinion. I very much enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the story until the villain was revealed late in the story to be a human trafficker of women and young boys. The good guys consider what to do with him. Scandal must be avoided so the hero hopes to encourage him to leave the country. Not a feel good story at the end in my opinion. Narrator was great though.

Interesting

I enjoyed listening to this story. It was an interesting tale. Having read Dracula and Jane Eyre, I will say this was a good mix with plenty of extra originality throughout. Also, having two narrators was a nice touch.

Enjoyable

Though I figured out part of the mystery pretty early on, that did not in anyway detract from my enjoyment of listening to the story. There were a few surprises thrown in & I always enjoy a clean romance.

Clean and entertaining

I really enjoyed this series; romance, a little mystery, and happily ever. Sometimes it is hard to find clean listens/reads. If you enjoyed this you may like some other clean historical Victorian, Regency, and Georgian era romance authors; Alice Chetwynd Ley, Sally Britton, Alicia Cameron, Jaima Fixsen, Arlem Hawks, Mimi Matthews, Suzanne G. Rogers, Sheri Cobb South, and of course Jane Austen & Georgette Heyer. They all have their own unique style.
